Does he think if we'd bid in those 2-3 days, that Chelsea would have just let it by?

Not only that, does the player have no agency in waiting a few days to see who else maybe comes in for him? It’s an utterly bollocks statement, but then why am I surprised from a Daily Mail journalist

I don't even know what he means by that or how you quantify it?

Probably similar to how we got Tonali, Isak, Woltemade all done really quickly before other clubs who had them on their radar could react quick enough. The amount of leaks (probably by agents) this summer was ridiculous.

So it's like we needed to make our offer 3 days earlier?

It just sounds like make believe, before we even made our offer his teammate at Brighton told the press he wanted to go to London.

Aye, but we had buy in from the off.

If Pedro wanted to return to London and Chelsea had expressed an interest (which it was reported they had), chances are it would have always played out the way it did, with his agent sounding them out before committing to a move up here.

Hope said there was a short period where if Newcastle had met all Brighton's conditions (which they would have ultimately done anyway) there was a high likelihood that they could have concluded the deal as Chelsea were not seriously in at this point despite knowing that is was possible that Pedro would go to Newcastle.

I have no strong views on this either way and was just sharing as it was said at the talk in he did and not printed publicly so thought some might find it interesting.

What he said probably needs to be taken into context like but I’m not that arsed we missed out

Young multimillionaire living in a foreign country gravitating towards the metropolitan areas is perfectly rational.

I have a feeling if Chelsea hadn't jumped in late, he'd have been absolutely delighted to come to Newcastle.

Really? He's a young guy and London is probably one of the top 5 cities in the world and I say that when I'm just a regular wage slave. As a highly paid footballer it must be even better. I don't see it as pathetic it's just a fact that London will be a huge draw factor to potential signings. Just another thing we'll have to overcome in order to be up there competing.

Meh, we only secured Trippier because he wanted to move up North in the UK.

Wonder if Tripps ever thinks ‘should have just let her fuck off, and stayed in Madrid’?

Not denying what you're saying comparable to young footballers, but personally I can't stand London, I think it's a grim place full of grim people and any time I've had to venture down there I've got back up North as quick as possible.

London has an absolutely massive Brazilian community, it's understandable from what he says but it kind of speaks about his character that he is not mature enough to take a step outside his comfort zone.

It doesn't really. He was quite happy to leave London when he was playing for Watford and we first went in for him. I read he still felt a bit miffed at us that we pulled out and went for isak at the 12th hour, so he didn't really owe us anything. Chelsea came in, and he went there, if they hadn't he'd have come here no problem IMO.
