I figured we scouted them for us and our system. How they'll perform in someone elses is another matter entirely and hard to judge them on.

Also they've only been with their respective teams a few weeks, we should reserve any definitive judgement for a few more months at the least.

Don’t we want the players we missed out on to turn out to be good? I don’t know what it says about our scouting system if 3-4 guys we were willing to drop 50m+ on turn out to be flops.

Nah, they'd only be great here because of our excellent coaching team. You're gonna be shite if Eddie and co ain't training you.

We can square the circle by saying 'Yay, but they forsook the kindly enquirings and beneficence of the good Eddie'.

Nothing wrong with the scouting, if a player takes the fork in the road into the shit environment instead of coming to us, that's on them and from making that decision they can get to fuck

I was only half watching their game. So no idea if Joao Pedro even had many chances or not. But every chance Chelsea had. They seemed to blaze it over the bar.

I wonder if Maresca will go full Arteta and blame the change in ball manufacturer for their woeful finishing.

Forgot they changed the ball for this season. I’ll let Barnes off for yesterday now [emoji38]

No matter how he played today, I still feel any player choosing Chelsea are making the wrong career choice.

It's seems to be run like a machine where players will be replaced rather than coached until they finally find a team that works.

Every player is expendable and if they fail it's simply next...

We obviously liked his qualities with multiple bids over the years but let's see if he joins us when his time is up at Chelsea

We wouldn't want him at that point imo, when a high profile player falls down the pecking order no one domestically wants anything to do with them usually.

It's that way for everyone, say Sancho, Sterling, Barkley, Hojlund, Nunez, Antony.

I don't think we would be interested if his career took a turn tbh.

I just don’t think Pedro is a striker, but they have Palmer playing in his best position. Chelsea signing him never made sense to me. Jackson is the best striker they have.

But seriously, the careers of Joelinton, Schar and Murphy show how a player's reputation and career can turn to ashes in the hands of the wrong manager.

Or more accurately imo - how much a great manager can do for you.

Schar was an international and I think he would’ve got a move abroad and found his level at a good side.

But Murphy in particular and others. Eddie has done wonders for their careers.  We saw Murphy not looking out of place in the Champ in his late 20’s

Delap and Pedro not having a great game will probably push the fee for Jackson up to £80m as well now.  Not that I particularly wanted Jackson, but it beats having Anthony Gordon up front which is what we are currently going with.

He scored a bicycle kick against Bolton on his debut didn’t he?!

No. That was Allardyce’s first game.

His debut would have been under Roeder. I have it in my head it was against Everyon and he was atrocious. But I might be wrong and he just had a shitter against Everton another time

I think it was Fulham and he was stretchered off what looked like knee injury.

It was ”severe dead leg”.
