Even if we sell Isak next Summer it'll cover us from a PSR perspective.  I feel the boat has already sailed to consider selling him now - we have too much at stake.  Sesko is no where near his level - yet.  Needs a season under Eddie much like Isak did.

i'm still desperately holding on to this.

we buy sesko, keep isak with a promise to sell next season to settle psr issues.

It's all over Twitter with pictures but I don't know what his agent looks like to be fair.

Some Liverpool fans are saying it's actually Will Wright's agent.

tomorrow training should be fun. Burn and Trippier will ask Isak about all this mess tomorrow. and then Tindall comes at him fuming...

Are they back in training tomorrow?  Imagine they come out with Isak signing a new contract [emoji38] The press will be crying into their cornflakes - never has a transfer been so media led.

Do you think in the cold light of day in the future, definitely after he's left Liverpool, will his actions get forgiven and will he be looked at fondly after helping us win the cup and get into the CL twice?

I think if Sesko and maybe Wissa come here and we kick on to bigger heights with his money reinvested we'll not feel so rotten about it. It won't happen while he's at Liverpool though no chance. It might if he fucked them off for another club down the line though.

I read it differently. Isaks agent went to Anfield is to negotiate with Liverpool side to see how genuine their interest is and tell them they need to come up a sizeable offer or Isak will stay, may even sign a new contract.

If he is fully set for Liverpool, his agent doesn’t need such a visit, which actually risks further legal action re tapping up. Basic stuff re salary / bonus etc must have been agreed for long. This doesn’t need to have any further discussion.

Considering

1. the surprisingly low 110m offer from Liverpool side

2. Isaks back to training without anyway indication he wants to escalate (a lot of us expect him to put on a show or hands in transfer request but he didn’t)

3. Shadow muppets info that the club wants to persuade him to stay, which is very likely by signing the new contract (or else nothing he need to have agreement on)

I think things are looking positive to me. The increase bid for Sesko is probably a separate issue, although I agree they might be related.

According to people I know who aren’t me, but are well versed in these matters, his agent looks exactly like the sort of sketchy hoodlum who’d sort you out with low grade toot in an Eastern European brothel, allegedly

When you put it like that, it must be true.

Absolutely no chance. Not only has he trampled over everything and everyone associated with Newcastle, he's done it deliberately just as a tactical move to get a move to another club, he's scum. I'll remember him as a very good player but won't feel a thing towards him. Not dissimilar to Andy Cole.

Right now it's raw and gut wrenching, but in time he'll be in the unique position of being hated by a fanbase forever when he should have been a hero. What a legacy.

I'm definitely overthinking it, but the 3 goals and minimal effort in his last 15, isn't a great look with the benefit of hindsight.

No he downed tools the fucking rat.

If he stays AND we get Sesko - transforms the out look for our season ahead.  I am for one am praying PIF hold true to their word i.e. not for sale.

If the scousers won't get anywhere close to £150m I don't see how a sale is possible.

Isak and Sesko it is for us this season then.

They bid £110m then got a bid for Nunez for £60m & £15m for Morton they can afford it no problem. We need to just accept that

£110m is the only bid they could manage. We don't need to accept anything until they put the money on the table. Even then we could tell them to do one....and in my opinion we should.

I am still deeply sad that it looks like Isak will be leaving. :(

I called it back in December that Liverpool would have boat loads of cash and I could see them rather than Arsenal trying for Isak come the summer.

I told myself if we didn't get CL he would definitely leave this summer but once we scrapped in I was confident we had one more year atleast of seeing one of, if not possibly the best striker I have seen in our colours. However to be the best he needed the longevity and it looks like that won't happen so he falls back into a lower position now for me.

I just wasn't mentally prepared for him going this sunner, it feels far too soon, especially after the cup final and to the team we beat. Even then I could maybe accept it better if the price was monumental and would help us overhaul the squad and push on higher. But it isn't, it's a bargain in today's market in my eyes and it doesn't give us the funds we need and also has contributed to a shit show of a summer where we currently are massively short in multiple areas of the squad.

Also thought wrongly that he would have more respect for us and leave in a more professional manner and not sour our memories of him.

I think it depends how we do ourselves.

If, say, pif leave and we go back to being shite I'll be clinging onto the positive memories. If the reverse is true and we go on to dominate then I think he would face derision every time he comes back to sjp.

Hard to tell, but I think after he's retired is when attitudes will soften. The emotion onvolved in winning that first cup in generations will be hard to match ans ultimately he was part of that.

E.g. I feel differently now about Andy Cole than I did from 96-2000, which was VERY different to how I felt about him 93-95. Similar with Ginola tbh.

Not that it matters though- he'll be at a presser tomorrow evening beaming and signing his new contract with Eddie superimposed as Neville Chamberlain on Wednesdays back pages under the headline "peace in wor tyne."

I still have hope that Isak will stay but a sale would certainly sour the cup win that we waited generations for. I'm already staying away from highlights because of the Jota sadness.

Anyway, work is pure misery because it now involves acknowledging the Mackems every day, so throw Liverpool's Isak into the mixtoo and wow.

A positive spin, I suppose, is that £150m is one of the biggest fees of all time.... for a moody prick who is always on the verge of a groin issue. He started and ended the season quite slowly, although was undeniably stunning in the middle. I just don't think any player is worth that price, knowing how quickly it can go wrong.

In modern football, I think it just makes sense to not to get too emotionally tied up with players. Try not to fall in love with them too quickly, and try not to hate them too much when they inevitably make decisions to improve their income/career.

Support the shirt, not the player.

Agree - apart from Bruno. And Big Joe.
