I've been convinced he goes ever since it all came out But it seems another day is going to tick by without anything happening and we genuinely don't seem like we will move on the price we want... Maybes Isak will escalate it and refuse to go into train on his own or summit (1) If Liverpool don't give us our number, he stays and is reintegrated - probably with a new contract with a release clause and a statement. (2) If Liverpool give us our figure. He may end up staying if we can't land a proper replacement (eg not just Wissa, we need someone else). We might panic into a Jackson at £60m but I doubt it. (3) If Liverpool get us our figure and we get a replacement, he goes. I think 2 is most likely. Liverpool get us the figure but we don't land a replacement and keep him, or panic into a replacement. They aren’t our rivals and unfortunately it seems we’re not allowed to compete with them anyway, plus I’m all for giving them and Isak stick when they play us - all for a bit of spice here. Would be funny seeing him in our reserves mind. Firstly we need to get two strikers of sufficient quality and then Liverpool need to match our exact valuation. I can't see either happening before the end of the window.

Tiresias
I get that in some sense, but also shows how ridiculous all this money is, like £40m is HUUUUGE amount of money...

Tiresias
By the way I suspect Liverpool will bid again closer to our evaluation late in window and we will accept it just to get him out the club. A lot will be furious and rightly so as it will show their ridiculous entitlement will have worked but I am dubious we can reintegrate. Maybe just pessimistic. The College Dropout
When Pardew joined we still hadn't fully figured out the Ashley agenda. So judging Pardew at the time was difficult. he is a slimey guy which doesn't help him. That slime is part of what made him a success for Ashley. Bruce was a bit too dour. He was trying to do the Ashley-apologist thing but he came across defensive and bitter at all times. Pardew would attempt to BS everyone and minimise who he would upset. Your Carver's and SMC's were just no good at anything. Your Hughton's and Rafa's were incompatible with Ashley. Too much honour and integrity. Fan favourites but that can't last under Ashley. Most important person at a football club is the owner for me. Everything follows the Owner. Pardew was a middle-of-the-pack manager ability-wise for us but the best manager for Ashley, which made him a bigger problem for us fans.

christ
I can’t see him going this window, because I don’t think Liverpool will get close enough to our valuation and there’s no readymade replacement available. He stays, gets reintergrated into the squad after the international break and there’s a truce until January/next summer when he eventually leaves. Kid Icarus
Liverpool set the groundwork for that 'given encouragement by Newcastle' bollocks last time so it seems clear that they're going to bid again this week and then be all "whaaaaaat? We said we wouldn't do it without encouragemeeeent!"

There are no realistic replacements now anyway, best we could do is invest in a young hopeful like Samu and pair him with Wissa and hope to replace the goals that way. But even that depends on Liverpool meeting the acceptable selling price for Isak which seems unlikely.

Matt1892
We should look at something creative like loaning him to PSG with Ramos coming here on loan, with an option of making it permanent if it works out next summer. I don’t care if they are getting the better deal over the season, I just don’t think we can trust him on the pitch for us again.

Not if we are signing Wissa. As has already been pointed out in the Jackson thread that would mean both would be missing for the AFCON for more than a month. JUICE690
We shouldn't do anything that hinders us whilst benefiting liverpool. Frustrating that Wissa still isn't done.

Mattoon
My prediction is that we get Wissa or Jackson to replace Wilson and move our focus to CM and leave Isak to sulk, then on the 2nd September we put a new contract in front of him with a release clause (if it's up to the Saudi's it will be a no Liverpool clause) and he will sign it and come back into the fold. Any further attempts to sign Isak from Liverpool will be met with a short, sharp, " do one", no way we sell him now, it seems pretty evident we don't feel any strikers left on the market offer up as an acceptable replacement for Isak. Would be funny seeing him in our reserves mind. Can people pleeeeassssseeeee stop saying this. We literally just beat them in a cup final. Their shiny new team just lost to Crystal Palace. They're our second game of the season. Beat them and we could be above them in the table for a bit. If we do well in the CL we may well face them in the knockout stages. We're obviously handicapped financially against them but the only way they're not our rivals if we accept the media narrative that they're our betters and fulfil the prophecy by giving them our best players.
