Piss poor we didn't offer him a new contract. Hopefully we sort that asap

It’s right we didn’t offer him a contract, had 4 years left last summer. This summer was always the one to offer it after another output season and confidence in giving him £200k+

Isak agent will be wanting a good deal on back of this, and rightly so and we’ll rightly pay as recognition. All a load of noise this. It will have as much traction as Tino to Man City.

If he wants to go, there will be little we can do - 3 years of his deal left, or not. :thdn:

If he was also promised a new deal and it's not been forthcoming - what have NUFC been doing?

Howe's been on his holidays, he's now back, he's cleaned out Mitchell, Eales is next and then he's on the Bat phone to Saudi to sort these transfers out now that the gruesome twosome lost Pedro and Delap.

Can we not just pay him on the sly outside the club?

I think it was in Micky Quinns book that he knew a player that got the max wage at a club and the chairman then played him at snooker once a week for £2k and always lost.

Do the Saudis play snooker ?

IF (big if) Hope is close to being right there about the contract, then that's so stupid and I'll be delighted Mitchell is gone.

Looking forward to seeing who both him Eales are replaced with. Just employ all the Howes instead, I say.

still dont think we can get Ekitike and keep Isak too. its one thing to upgrade Wilson with Delap on the cheap, but Ekitike is very expensive for us as it is and Elanga was also high fee.

while could see both Ekitike and Isak work in a tandem if one of them plays from the left, but we have Barnes and mainly Gordon for that.

our high energy style will work differently when its a game every 3 days and some of those midweek CL games will be against elite sides ad very decent sides and maybe only one will be vs Champion of Slovenia or Czech R etc, so I want to see midfield and mainly defensive signings but also we need to replace Wilson with someone that can add goals and lead the line when Isak is injured. Delap would have been perfect for that role imo and his price was perfect as well leaving more to strengthen elsewhere. Ekitike is from different shelf, he was already main man at a Frankfurt a much better side than Ipswich, he will not come here to be understudy to anyone and with his price tag he needs to start. he could be ending at dippers as a starter, so no way we trying to sell him to be a rotational option here. I guess Howe must really like him tho given how long we are following him since.

if dippers push for Isak, who is tried and tested in PL which is a big advantage to the likes of Darwin Nunez, Ekitike, Gyokeres, Sesko etc transfers we should ask for a fee and stick to it that will make them puke if they decide to pay it. 130m pounds bare minimum. PL transfer record and bit more.

I think Liverpool's play here is to buy Ekitike this summer knowing fine well we like him and want him at NUFC. They'll go for Isak next summer knowing they can offer maybe Ekitike + £50m (or whatever) and have a better chance of getting him with only 2 years left. There's definitely logic in what they're doing, as scummy as it is, it does kinda tally up

Could they play together in a front 2 ? A 4231 where the front 1 and middle of the three interchange? Other games where they rotate and just play 1 up front or central in a 3 ?

It would give us so many options, don't get stuck in thinking we have to stick as we are and can only get players who are upgrades in those direct positions and roles.

Can’t say for certain if Mitchell is the same, but I prefer to get large items delivered into the slot at my back door

Alright don't get coarse

I think our Ekitike bid has caught Liverpool off guard and the Isak approach is a flex or sorts to put us back in our box.

I back Isak to stay but can't see Ekitike choosing us over Liverpool when they inevitably take their shot.

If that smug bald cunt alienated our striker then he needs glassing almost as much as @Froggy

Nice one, Paul. More buzzwords than actual signings, and now we find out that smug little dweeb botched Isak’s contract too? Top work. Wonder what kind of “value creation” or “synergy” that was supposed to deliver, mate.

Not when the player was led to believe we were offering him one like
