You could argue that it wasn’t in Isak’s interests for us to qualify for the Champions League as if we hadn’t it may well have made his exit easier.

Please, just stop. Go outside and touch some grass.

I think the simplest explanation is probably the most likely. The bid was turned down and they were told not to bother coming back with a second one.

I think it's highly unlikely that this decision is Liverpool's. It's not usual to give up after just one bid.

Theyve actively told people they dont value Isak as much as us. That's the opening we needed to get him back to the club.

I know he will get booed to fuck but hes not Muniz of Fulham.

wtf is Craig Hope on about

Just that if you want him Newcastle need someone in to replace him. Tongue and cheek from Craig no hope I suspect on a very quickly filmed youtube video saying Liverpool should be helping us get a replacement.

Say he ends up staying and playing, would he be booed at SJP?

Undoubtedly. However I think alot of it could be mitigated if they PR spin and he doesn't go public now and go scorched earth to force the move.

So far the facts are he had an injury, the club rejected a bid and he allegedly has asked to "explore his options" but that still was not a direct quote.

I imagine this has all been done this way on purpose with the possibility he might have to stay.

Behind the scenes will be a different matter and will likely be abit icy between him, Howe and the players.

Obvious if he goes all in with public quotes and transfer requests now then everything is fucked and he's getting Michael Owen treatment next time he plays.

At least we have hope tonight. Hope that maybe our higher-ups have some backbone and genuinely did scare them off with a forceful no.

Still think a second bid comes in from the beloved, always respectful, people’s champion of clubs, mind.

So Howe could force him to fly to Asia? How would he do that - at gun point?

No idea how to respond to that. It’s not only a poor response, it doesn’t really make any sense.

Liverpool are willing to walk away from a move for striker Alexander Isak after Newcastle United rejected their opening offer.

The Magpies, who value the Sweden international at about £150m, turned down a bid of £110m from the Premier League champions.

BBC Sport understands Liverpool do not think a deal for Isak is achievable this summer as it stands.

The 25-year-old was left out of the Newcastle squad for their pre-season tour of Asia with a "minor thigh injury", according to the club, while he wants to explore a move away despite the Magpies qualifying for this season's Champions League.

The bid from Liverpool was lodged while Isak trains alone at former club Real Sociedad, amid continued uncertainty around his future.

What it means for the players still there? What it means for Eddie?
