Kid Icarus
Were we like this with Guehi? Trying to remember. I know we bid a few times, but not sure if we were given a firm no and kept bidding or if we were "encouraged to bid."

54
Bidding £40m below an asking price and being optimistic about it is hilarious btw. It's love the see Liverpool's reaction when we quickly told them to fuck off

Keegans Export
You've got to assume that if we've been that assertive with the response, we must have some confidence that he can be reintegrated into the squad?
Mazzy
Isak has really screwed this situation up. He had the opportunity to just not act like a prick about this and if he'd stayed this season we'd have all loved him for it, then could've gone anyway next summer. But instead he's made it obvious he wants to go ASAP, so now if he doesn't go he'll be shit on a stick to a lot of our fans this season.

He'll have no choice. If he doesn't leave, his choices are fuck off and train on your own (with the 21's maybe) or get on with your life and do your best for the next year. Vaj
Seems to me that it’s just shitty tactics from Liverpool. Bid low, pull out in the hope that Isak kicks off even more so they can then take him in a few weeks at a much lower fee. If that is the case then they really can get fucked and we should double down and refuse to sell no matter what Isak does, can’t have them pushing us around. konvaljen
Wouldn’t be surprised if this is all just tactics. Liverpool knows Newcastle needs to get in at least one striker before selling. No matter the price they bid. Them bidding and ”pulling out” helps Newcastle to not get over priced in those deals. I mean, of course they knew the first bid was going to be rejected. It’s all just optics. Still more likely to stay than go at this point.
Madrigal
Quote Saga not over - over to Isak and his agent to escalate. Players have been refused transfers before and thrown a strop but still had the fans chanting their name after player refocuses. Isak must not be allowed to leave due to these reasons: 1) The Carabao cup final win was like a dream yet if he is sold the images of the winner will be tainted if we cannot continue our upward trajectory and fail to win a trophy for years. This is because the winner would have been scored by one of our most hated players who chose to leave to our most hated club where he and they go on to dominate Europe. 2) The optics are bad. We were meant to consolidate our position and rival Liverpool on and off the pitch. It would appear as a lack of ambition and our most talented players will continue to compare their wage packet against lesser players who earn almost double for doing less and winning more. If we fail to get champs league / have a poor season Tino, Gordon and their agents could push for moves. Force him to stay and sell him, even if his value depreciates significantly, next year to ANYONE but Liverpool.
