Isak's reputation is irreparable damaged for us, and Liverpool have sucessfully disrupted an already shambolic transfer window. It’s damaged but it’s no irreparable IMO. Fans have very short memories in general, if he commits and plays well we’ll cheer him. Maybe not the same as before but to a decent degree.

Scoot
I think it'll be telling whether hes back at the training ground on Tuesday.
HaydnNUFC
Think they’re just trying to get Isak to formally hand in a transfer request. Trying to force our hand. Shouldn’t deal with them under any circumstances after this. Not just because of the wider message selling Isak to them sends but because of how they’ve acted throughout this whole thing. KaKa
They've never bid £110 million with no add ons surely?! My God That's an insult to Isak even. They should be using that to let him know that Liverpool don't think he's that good and so he should buck up his ideas!
Deuce
I’m not fully convinced that Liverpool are 100% in for Isak. I think Ekitike was an opportunistic signing (they know he’s available, they know we’ve bid, they know they can outbid us), and I think Isak is, too. If someone else came in for him, I think Liverpool would fold quickly.

Palestoon
1 minute ago, TRon said: In hindsight it looks like they signed Ekitike because they knew there was little chance of getting Isak. All this enticing of Isak and lowballing offers has been purely to unsettle the player and try to undermine a rival. I wish I could believe we would throw enough money at it to really make them shit their pants. It can be done. This is it. Liverpool probably enquired in early June. Got a firm no. Saw us going after Ekitike who was probably one of their secondary options. They needed to make sure they ended up with one of the two, but they wanted to see if they could use the Ekitike situation to change our stance on the player leaving. So they went public with "Want Isak #1 target, will leave Ekitike alone if Newcastle open to selling" We told them to fuck off, and they moved for Ekitike because they couldn't take the risk of us signing him, and still refusing to sell Isak. Since then, they've just sat in the background and let Isaks agent do the dirty work. They know he wants to come, but they are not desperate for him. Let the media circus fester, and they try again later with a low ball (which we just witnessed) hoping we buckle from all of the pressure. If not, they move forward with what they have and focus on other areas
Whitley mag
No chance did they think 110 would get him, it’s all part of the negotiation. The media is in their pockets and the games will continue. They’ll still think they can get him for 130 million in the end. It’s to be hoped our resolve remains firm and much will depend on Isak. As much as I’d love us to let him rot, I don’t think the club will see that as an option if he refuses to play for us.

How does him formally handing in a transfer request make any difference? Apart from potentially financially harming himself. We all know he wants the move anyway. That's public knowledge. That’s part of the problem in this current shitshow- no one else seems to be in the picture, so Liverpool thinks they’ve got a free run at him by unsettling him and forcing a sale at a cut-rate price. Next season Kane and Lewandowski getting old, may set off a bidding war which would be good for us, bad for them. No better time for Liverpool to strike than now. Zero
If they offered 130-140m then even if we rejected them, I think they will come back at around 160m something late in the window, because it shows they do want him. 110m means they only want a robbery like deal. it’s over
