I’m not fully convinced that Liverpool are 100% in for Isak. I think Ekitike was an opportunistic signing (they know he’s available, they know we’ve bid, they know they can outbid us), and I think Isak is, too.

 

If someone else came in for him, I think Liverpool would fold quickly.

No chance did they think 110 would get him, it’s all part of the negotiation.

 

The media is in their pockets and the games will continue. They’ll still think they can get him for 130 million in the end.

 

It’s to be hoped our resolve remains firm and much will depend on Isak. As much as I’d love us to let him rot, I don’t think the club will see that as an option if he refuses to play for us.

How does him formally handing in a transfer request make any difference? Apart from potentially financially harming himself.

Think his agent has been gassing them up to bid for him as they could get him on the cheap.

 

Also, if this guy is so desperate to leave why doesn't he put in a transfer request. Funny how these players are always so hesitant to go that far and lose out on some benefits. Clowns.

That’s part of the problem in this current shitshow- no one else seems to be in the picture, so Liverpool thinks they’ve got a free run at him by unsettling him and forcing a sale at a cut-rate price. Next season Kane and Lewandowski getting old, may set off a bidding war which would be good for us,  bad for them. No better time for Liverpool to strike than now.

If they offered 130-140m then even if we rejected them, I think they will come back at around 160m something late in the window, because it shows they do want him.

 

110m means they only want a robbery like deal.

Selling him for less money probably works out at a similar profit to accepting these stupid bids, as another year of money comes off his book value if I'm not mistaken, and so we should absolutely go for that if possible.
