They needed two forwards and went max greed. Plan for them was to always Peddle Nunez and obviously Jotas demise made them need two.

Guess it's possible, does Ekitike sign with them if they had already bought Isak? If they really had that as a plan they are really relying on player power though and Ekitike can't be happy about the situation.

I dont think they go for Ekitike if we agreed to sell them Isak.

Liverpool right now see Isak as a market opportunity.

I am 100% sure PIF and Liverpool has a future deal sorted for Salah for a very high fee next summer. thats why they spend shit load this summer.

he probably has a somewhat worse season than last time, but on the back of that he got a 2 year extension with premium salary maybe only Haaland has higher salary in the whole PL now, and then he is off the the sunset next summer to Saudi and Liverpool will be paid obscene amount for a 35 yo Salah  (70-80m) and get his salary off the club too. that will be a brutal PSR jackpot for them.

they already have very good contact and running business relation due to Henderson, Fabinho, Firmino, Nunez sales...

I reckon so yeah, they are Liverpool who are lauded throughout the world and never criticised for the blatant tapping up they do.

As I've said a million times, PSR should actually cause deflation but because it means only one profile of player is desirable everyone wants the same type of player pushing prices right up.

As I said in the rumours page I think he’s right. Disgraceful if it is but it does seem logical.

i just ask myself if we had sufficient PSR room would we be trying to buy Thaiw & McGinn. Not a chance imo

Seriously, you really think he's right? You're usually so logical,  negative but logical, now you are just negative.

If we knew Isak was leaving this summer and wanted to use the money from his sale to get a CB, CM, his replacement, and a goalie, why didn't we try to get a bidding war going for Isak when Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool were looking for a striker? We could've easily gotten 150 million! (With add ons) Instead, (if we believe Ornstein) we waited until Chelsea got JP, Arsenal got Gykorese, and Liverpool got Ekitike, and then accept to sell him for, like, 30 million less than we thought he was worth? (Liverpool wouldn't pay 150m now, no way.)

We waited till the only available market for him is one club (who i believe just see him as a market opportunity) when there was 3 clubs.

It makes no sense at all.

So, I think the plan was to get Isak to sign a new deal with a release clause for next summer and get a young forward now, like JP, to take over when Isak leaves.

I think it all started when Isak saw Liverpool get Ekitike, Arsenal Gykorese, and Chelsea JP. Those clubs could afford him. Unless we lower the price, Barca and Bayern can't.

David Ornstein is chatting clickbait sh*t right there. Its just not logical.

After 2 years of keeping our powder dry, there's zero chance that the fee we paid for Elanga is our total PSR headroom, add to that the sales we've made and there's a lot more there to spend yet.

I've said it a lot of times in this thread but Isak goes nowhere unless we get two strikers in and he doesn't get sold for anything less than our valuation. The silence around him right now speaks volumes, the club are working hard to bring him back into the fold.

For a fanbase that’s so vehemently against state ownership, they sure as hell love to accept and celebrate sales to them.

Another reason I can’t stand fanbases of those sides, just a bunch of bendy double standard pricks.

I hope they can! We don’t know all of the facts. If he comes back he’ll get my backing 100% for the season then he can fuck off [emoji38]

Bailey is unreliable but that is probably true.  Our stance is no sale unless replacements, but they have to arrive and if they don’t there has to be a plan to bring him back in surely

The only way we should be sanctioning his sale now is if we got Ramos and Samu both in through the door, and then got offered £150m for him.

None of the above will happen so he needs to be prepared to stay.

The problem for us is we now end up selling Isak at a distressed price to fund buying an inferior replacement. If we have accepted he's not playing for us any more...although why we would go down that route is beyond me.

He has to play for us if we don’t have replacements and an acceptable fee.

Yeah that has always been my reasoning. I'm just not sure that's how the club see it any more. Howe might prefer to get him out of the club and bring in someone who is 100% committed.

Hope this isn't true. Literally playing into Isak and Liverpools hands. Teams will know we're desperate for a replacement and Liverpool will low ball us.

Surely the club know the best thing to do is to force him to train and carry on as usual. Even if the plan is behind close doors to move on from him
