Can't see that would be something he would do if he wanted to integrate Isak back into the squad.

That’s exactly what you do. He doesn’t get back in that easy. He needs to take responsibility for his actions.

Howe told Alex not to come to training in the morning, organised a family / team bonding day for everyone and their wives/kids, and then told Alex to show up for training / talks after that was over.

Showing him who’s boss.

That's fine, it probably needed to be done. Howe needs to buy a new striker who can play instead of Isak until his head's right, that's the power move.

100 per cent it is, which is why I'm hoping Brentford will sign who they want and we get Wissa

Did Isak remain at training after Howe left today? Wonder if there were some harsh words said?

Yep. Apparently spent around 85mins with EH still in the building and EH and JT left before him.

I wouldn't read too much into today. Sounds like Eddie hadn't spoken to Alex since the tour. Would probably be awkward for everyone if he just joined right in.

Real test will be what happens tomorrow after they've cleared the air. If he trains with the team or still on his own

I'm thinking this is exatly what you do if you know he is done at the club.

The only way he's done is if Howe doesn't want him here any more.

We’ll know in the not to distant future. Then we can fill in the story in reverse.[emoji38]

Absolutely this. Thought it was great leadership by wor Eddie. The bloke can't just walk in given the damage he's done. And until the club have tried to engineer a solution to the mess he caused, he can stay out in the cold.

In fact for a solitary and somewhat serpentine figure like Isak, whose mien very much resembles that of a psychopath, the concept of a 'family day' would be anathema. The fact that he was not invited to 'bond' was therefore less about 'showing him who's boss' than about respecting his nature. But while snakes like to take shade beneath the dense canopy of the tree, it seems like Isak was unwilling to accept Howe's olive branch.

Sorry, no. All quiet tonight.

if the meeting is just among PIF, Isak and his agent, and Howe, then very likely you won’t be able to hear anything. The only one that can leak info out is his agent and I am 100% sure that PIF told him any leakage will result with severe consequence.

Let’s see whether Isak joins the training tomorrow.

I’m sure Caulkin said the same thing. I’m absolutely certain in my mind Pedro & Ekitike were lined up as Isak replacements

Events suggest we wanted to keep isak for another year.

The problem is, Isak staying in the cold means we’re likely to score 0 goals given who will replace him in the side. Our record without him in the past 2 seasons is worse than abject, sadly.

He was really poor after the Cup final yet we still scored plenty.

It's for a sure problem if only because of the mental impact it has on opponents these days.

I'd like to think Eddie has been putting time in to try and find that solution. I think the Sela Cup games will be an interesting insight into what that looks like. The games in Asia were clearly just to get the legs moving.

Yeah, Liverpool buying Ekitike really doesn't make sense if they knew Isak was available. Just makes it more weird, he has a horrible agent in any case.

They needed two forwards and went max greed. Plan for them was to always Peddle Nunez and obviously Jotas demise made them need two.
