This. After this window there can longer be any doubt which are the clubs that are making Romano and Ornstein very wealthy men.

The best thing you can do for yourself is shut out all their noise, come off social media, don't listen to any of those gibbons on TalkShite, Sky Sports News etc and for goodness sake, absolutely don't watch any clickbait/ragebait nonces on youtube.

Newcastle Online on the other hand? Great place to vent your frustrations with a great set of lads!

Howay Moose man. Don’t kick @Jaqen when he’s down. You’ve just advised him to jump out of the frying pan into the fire 😉

I wouldn't say a new contract is any kind of reward but an incentive for him to commit to another season fully, rather than half-heartedly and begrudgingly ambling round the pitch for a season waiting for his next move.

If you give him more money you are rewarding him and his behaviour. It can be argued it's the right thing to do however it comes with the risk of other players doing exactly the same thing.

To be frank, the new contract thing is what Manchester United would do.

He does have 3 years left. Whoever promised him a new one is gone. He doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

Not sure if you've been paying attention but we are really struggling to find someone competent to replace him with.

I was responding to your comment that "He's gone" and that he can "kick rocks and fuck off next year"

I assumed that meant we just don't play him all season. That's what it sounds like.

He's gone in terms of he will not be with us in 12 months time no matter. He may lump it for this season but that will be about it.

Don't expect any sort of mine change from him, he went nuclear after all.

All he has to do is tell Eddie he wants to train with the rest of the lads, thats it.

Should be made to sing the Blaydon races prior to our game against Liverpool in the middle of the pitch through the pa system. Then we can forgive him.

Then score a hattrick and run over to slot and kiss our badge in front of him

Rick Gonzalez Thank You GIF

hopefully this will be Isak and it’ll be that scene from coach carter where he wants to rejoin the team and Howe makes him doing 2000 pushups and 1000 suicides for the team before he can rejoin

and then we have a practically undefeated season until Howe closes st James park for the Sunderland game because the players are not academically achieving at the right level

If we keep him, he’ll play. Has to, contract and all. Not a god look from him for any would be buyers next year. Hope we play hard ball and he has to reintegrate with his tail between his legs. Daft cunt. Holding that cup went to his head [emoji38] (still think he hates Eddie’s intensity training regime)

Like I said, I was responding to your quote that he can kick rocks and fuck off next year. I took that to mean we don't use him and just let him rot in the reserves for a year.

Why would his performances be half arsed? As others have pointed out Ronaldo, Suarez, Modric and Kane have been in similar situations and stayed another year and performed

Are you telling me you've never seen or heard of a player not putting 100% in because they want to leave a club? It happens fairly regularly.

That means we use him or we don't it's the same thing. We should ideally get a replacement in and sell him next year but this is looking unlikely.

Yeah, Liverpool buying Ekitike really doesn't make sense if they knew Isak was available. Just makes it more weird, he has a horrible agent in any case.

I think they wanted both and they’ll likely get both. Them buying Ekitike hasn’t stopped them getting Isak in all likelyhood. They’ve played it perfectly

Well I'm with you on that. We should buy a replacement and NOT sell him until next year IMO.

As much as I agree with the sentiment to fuck him over, we really can't afford to have a poor season. Especially after the catastrophic summer we've had.

If a new contract gets him get his shit together and give it 100 percent this season, so be it. Move on in the summer.

It doesn't appear were going to replace him with a player anywhere near his quality. Focus needs to be on having our best players on the field this season.

Whatever happens with this lad I think we all just need some clarity ASAP, its draining reading claim & counter claim, is 100% not good for the club, fanbase or player (I say that from a historical viewpoint & what he helped us achieve)

We all need some decisions made before this weekend if possible & we deal with the fallout or status quo accordingly

But FFS just get on with it

Seriously, you really think he's right? You're usually so logical,  negative but logical, now you are just negative.

If we knew Isak was leaving this summer and wanted to use the money from his sale to get a CB, CM, his replacement, and a goalie, why didn't we try to get a bidding war going for Isak when Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool were looking for a striker? We could've easily gotten 150 million! (With add ons) Instead, (if we believe Ornstein) we waited until Chelsea got JP, Arsenal got Gykorese, and Liverpool got Ekitike, and then accept to sell him for, like, 30 million less than we thought he was worth? (Liverpool wouldn't pay 150m now, no way.)

We waited till the only available market for him is one club (who i believe just see him as a market opportunity) when there was 3 clubs.

It makes no sense at all.

So, I think the plan was to get Isak to sign a new deal with a release clause for next summer and get a young forward now, like JP, to take over when Isak leaves.

I think it all started when Isak saw Liverpool get Ekitike, Arsenal Gykorese, and Chelsea JP. Those clubs could afford him. Unless we lower the price, Barca and Bayern can't.

David Ornstein is chatting clickbait sh*t right there. Its just not logical.

I think Isak got his head turned by Liverpool and only wanted Liverpool. I suspect other clubs knew this but also Chelsea aside I don’t think other clubs could afford him.

my logic in this case is we appear to be going for cheaper targets which doesn’t make sense. We passed on Thaiw to chase Guehi all summer last year but this summer when we apparently have money we go for the cheaper target. Also John McGinn? Again I cheap option. Does anyone believe if we had money to spend we’d be going for a 31 year old John McGinn ?

Can see Isak being adamant and throwing toys out of the pram further.

Don’t think many, if at all in this squad, (possibly Gordon) would act like this in this circumstance. Really unprofessional, childish and disrespectful to the staff, players, fans and the shirt.

Hope there’s a way back but I don’t think he cares anymore tbh.

Gordon was literally in this position last summer and done nothing like this, dip in performance levels, but didn’t essentially go on strike.

Training away from the group can be what he wants all he likes. Likewise considering his Newcastle career over can be his stance all he likes.

Let's see how quickly that stance would change if we told him fuck you you're not going to Liverpool unless you fancy it in 2028.

Which players?

Modric, Kane, Ronaldo, Suarez gave it all despite having moves turned down.

Fair point but depends if Liverpool really wanted him as much as Isak now. Isak is one of the best strikers in the world and probably feels he has outgrown us. Gordon’s ego and status has not reached those levels.

Honestly think we should stick to our guns even if he continues to kick up a fuss. World Cup year and his main strike rival for Sweden has just joined the Prem. Good luck sitting out the season Alex.

Everything that’s happened in the past couple of weeks has been through the lens of his decision and how he’s acted.

I have really mixed feelings about this.

It's sad he's created this situation. The bloke could have been a club legend, but for him to just down tools is pretty unforgiveable. It makes you wonder how long ago he did so too. He was pretty much a passenger from the cup final onward.

The club are in a tight spot. Do you force him stay and risk him half arsing it for the season, or do you sell and make yourself look vulnerable to player power?

Regardless of the decision, we only look weak if it isn't done on our terms. We can't be lowering our valuation and in an ideal world, we shouldn't be selling to a Premier League side.

I think the day he would outgrow us was always coming. We're a club consolidating itself as a regulator qualifier for Europe, while he should be looking to win titles, but he's completely tainted his legacy with how he's gone about communicating his wishes.

As for us as fans, I hope that we realise any replacement isn't going to be as good or the finished article. Isak himself is only what he is today thanks to the superb coaching of Eddie and the club staff. If only he'd remembered that and treat them with a bit more respect.
