Let him sit out the year — the club could still get £100 million next summer. Honestly, I’d be perfectly fine with losing £40 million this summer if it means holding our ground. Fuck him.

If they can’t bring him back in I’m here. We have to come out of this upright and standing. Any capitulation in any way and we are just a play thing for the 6. Milking our best assets and driving their price down.

It’s only logical he trains away from the team based on what Howe said. Can also use a fall back he’s on a different fitness regime to the rest of the squad so can’t partake in same levels. Easy answer to nip things over next 2 days of training.

Then it’s a question of will he be involved in the squads for the weekends games.

Yeah that has always been my reasoning. I'm just not sure that's how the club see it any more. Howe might prefer to get him out of the club and bring in someone who is 100% committed.

Cannot let that happen as we will be seen as a walkover for years to come. I just can't see the owners accepting being bent over and fucked as hard as it gets. The Saudis do not operate that way.

If we refuse to let him go his valuation won’t go down. He’ll be too fearful of the impact on his options if he doesn’t play so he will play

And should be more determined to put himself in the shop window. A big come down for his ego. I hope we keep him either way. Unless that £150 million plus offer comes in. It won’t.

Hope this isn't true. Literally playing into Isak and Liverpools hands. Teams will know we're desperate for a replacement and Liverpool will low ball us.

Surely the club know the best thing to do is to force him to train and carry on as usual. Even if the plan is behind close doors to move on from him

I don't think the reports are suggesting the plan is to move him on, the plan is to remove the poison from our preparations until such a time as some kind of agreeable outcome has been reached, which includes either being sold for an acceptable price and replaced or a commitment from Isak for another season with an improved contract and a door out the club next summer.

Liverpool can low ball us all they like, it will be another short, sharp, unequivocal NO.

He won't get the wages he'll want if he doesn't play much for a year and will end up signing for AC Milan.

I believe it will unless they come in at the plus £150 million price point. Jackson for 80 makes this a totally realistic asking price with Isak’s potential to get better.

We play Liverpool early doors and there’ll be plenty of tactical discussion as we prepare for the opening games

I wouldn’t want that snidey weasel sitting in on team discussions whilst he’s got his tongue firmly inserted into Liverpool’s skanky hoop

Only takes a quick text to Slot to let him know we’re moving Schar up to midfield when we play them and our element of surprise is scuppered

Loose lips and Judas cunts sink ships

Depends how much responsibility they have delegated to Howe. They seemed to have backed Howe in the Mitchell stand off, and there is no DOF that I know of who would make these decisions, so it's possible they might just take instruction from Howe on which direction to take.

There again, we don't know for sure if Howe has decided he's done with Isak. This is all just press speculation at this point, I'm just reading between the lines.

Interesting.

So basically sign a new contract to show your commitment or you should be prepared to sit out the whole year?

He had no commitment he's gone, why do folk want to reward this clown with a new contract. He can kick rocks and fuck off next year when hopefully we have a competent structure in place to buy players.

wait, I understand your rage, I just don’t understand why it sounds like Howe is waiting for something from Isak? Yea I can only think of a new contract with some clauses to show his commitment. May be you can think of something else, say a public apology?

No rage, just common sense. Why would you reward someone who's thrown the toys out? Ideally we would get rid this window but we don't have any competence in the transfer team so it has to wait.

If we go down this route I'd happily just put him in the reserves for 3 years and gamble that the PSR rules change.

In Howe's position I personally would be waiting for Isak to say "I'm sorry, I've been a bit of a heel and have gone about this all wrong but I'm prepared to get my head down and graft".  I don't think anybody expects or demands a public apology, any further than just him getting his shit together and playing for us if it comes to it

You said basically he can kick rocks for a year. That doesn't help us or him.

Would be better to sign another striker and just leave him on the bench until he's desperate to play. Which he will be pretty soon once the season starts.

If they have backed Howe with Mitchell (I totally agree that they have), then the question may be asked by the owners if they are still willing for Howe to make those decisions. Pure conjecture as we may never know the actual reason Mitchell left. Howe has to be told that isak cannot leave until his valuation is met.  The knock on effect of allowing to leave for anything less, could well have connotations for years to come. We have to take a leaf out of the Forest owners stance and tell them and the player, that it's our process that stands.

I wouldn't say a new contract is any kind of reward but an incentive for him to commit to another season fully, rather than half-heartedly and begrudgingly ambling round the pitch for a season waiting for his next move.

Not sure if you've been paying attention but we are really struggling to find someone competent to replace him with.
