Sounds like the block is coming in from ownership, not Howe, and it's important to note that distinction. It allows Howe to be the peacemaker whenever Isaks head cools.

 

Hence the lack of fines, and open door for reintegration.

Would laugh my tits off, if Isak has to stay - World Cup year too coming up and he may well be left to rot on the sidelines. It really is unprofessional behaviour (assuming Paully is right) - I had Isak down for much better than this.

Isak is out over his skis. He did this in a way that did not maximize the chances of his desired move happening. The timing of it, waiting until the end of the window, was horrible. It’s also clear now that he is on strike. If you're going to do that, you better be damn sure that the buying club you want to go to is going to match your own club’s evaluation. That has absolutely not happened.

I think there’s a chance that a replacement for Isak will be brought in during this window, regardless of whether he is sold or not. From a purely financial standpoint, it wouldn’t really become an issue until the PSR deadline next summer. Best case: a replacement is signed in August, and Isak stays until next summer unless Liverpool coughs up £150m now in August. In that case, it will probably, over time, be in everyone’s interest for him to contribute to the team next season. For Isak, it’s important to keep potential suitors interested (+ it’s a World Cup year), and for Newcastle it’s important both from a sporting and financial perspective to maintain his market value.

Yea, this is still a big question mark. No suprise our useless journos didn't ask him to expand on that.

 

Could it be he was saying that in terms of saying blocking a sale isn't as straightforward as that means Isak just rejoins the group and all is well?

 

Wouldn't make sense for him to reveal the clubs weak position. Would also expect that if that really was the case and theirs something we dont know that hurts our hand, his agent would have the media banging on about it every day. 

 

But even the most bullish reports about Isak leaving always caveat it with "IF Newcastle open the door"
