It can't be both, he was either wanting a new contract or to get out. Did multiple media interviews in the spring that went above & beyond in his praise for the club as well. Statement feels a bit barbed towards Howe as well, but that could be paranoia. Thanks his teammates and everyone at Newcastle that has supported him, but not called out the manager or the coaching staff in that.
