It's good to see unity from the fanbase again at least in a positive way
In the Ashley days, we would have backed the player every single time

The only thing we were united on was Ashley or Pardew or Bruce out
Nice to see we're all back in, backing the club against even our best player

Also, we won’t issue no statement as a club, as why would we?

What Edwards says will be our stance, and Howe is the guy doing the answering. Don’t need to sink to Isak / his agent level. Nothing changes until Liverpool offer £150m, that bid that’s been 72 hours away for last 200 hours.

Wonder if Isak just put this out himself or whether his agent thought it was a good idea and encouraged him to do it.

Either way, they’re both thick as shit.

Isak will have signed off on it but he won't have conceived or written it, it'll have been his agent or a member of his team as an attempt at spinning public perception in their favour to put pressure on the club.

Evidently, it hasn't worked.

I kind of want us to call his bluff by releasing a statement saying if Isak wants to leave then we will help facilitate that move but the only condition is that it will be to any team outside of this country

Let's see what his next move is after that

Howe has built a real sense of team spirit at the club, it's a place where players can thrive and many of them seem to have bought in to that and consider themselves at home in the area. But at the end of the day you're going to struggle to keep your very best players for long if you're paying them half or a third of what the top clubs can offer. Isak's statement taken at face value confirms what has been obvious, which is that he feels aggrieved at the club for some broken promise. Our bid for Ekitike and Liverpool's response seems to have set him off, so I assume that while we were in fact trying to secure Isak's replacement we were still playing hardball and telling other clubs that he wasn't available.

The club will gain nothing from teaching Isak a lesson. We reintegrate him into the team or we sell him for a good fee and find a solution.

He'd probably win that case unfortunately.

I'm not sure, the sentence on a change being the best thing is pretty much him saying I want to leave. And it's on writing

Unless of course the contracts specify the exact form that the request needs to be made in of course.

Transfers are strange things, something like this hasn't been tested (afaik) and a lot of common practice in the football arena does seem to be legally challengeable

Just me, but I think Liverpool are fucked without another forward. Diaz, Nunez, Jota, and Trent is about 40 goals in all comps. Trent and Robertson are #1 and #2 in the PL era list of assists by defenders. They also have emerging weakness at CB.

They need Isak badly and will be fucked if we do not sell. Fuck it, keep him, and get Vardy in if Isak won't play. Use every interview to highlight how Vardy played through the minor leagues and is not some mega entitled cunt who's been tapped up by equalled entitled cunts who tell anyone stupid enough to listen that they are a "special club".

It would be great if in the press conference Howe is asked about the statement and he does his usual blatant denials -  'oh he's made a statement?' I've not seen that but all I can tell you we're open to welcoming him back here

I wonder if we get a club statement tomorrow.

Hopefully not. Just remain silent and keep going about our business, getting dragged into a public war of words is worst case scenario here.

Any sympathy I may have had for Isak is pretty much gone at this point but this is shocking agent work/advice.

The club can't possibly be seen to cave to this. He's ruining his own career.

I wouldn’t hold my breath… Isak just made a complete fool of himself. Absolutely no need to divert attention from it. Everybody with an ounce of integrity and common sense will see right through that statement.

Agreed.
