That wouldn't have happened.

Instead we've let Liverpool bully us into paying 20/25m less than he's worth.

Its easy for us fans to say keep him, let him rot. What of Eddie who has to deal with the situation everyday and every press conference? How about the other players?

If we could not reintegrate him, he had to be sold.

I see it the other way around. Selling is short term thinking. Long term the precedent is set. The club's statement about only selling when conditions are met now looks laughable. When the club tries to bluff or finds itself in a game of brinkmanship in future, it will be weakened because everyone remembers Isak. When players don't get what they want, they'll remember how Isak successfully got his move. It's the long term where this sale doesn't make sense.

I suspect nobody gives a shit about it as much as we think they do, I work in Nottingham and live in Leicester and every fuckers bored to death of it in the press.

Football operates on a very short memory cycle.

Really? At the very least there would have been a risk of it happening (like I said).

And not sure on being bullied. Bullied would've been a sale straight off the bat before we've got our own ducks in a row, imo. We might have another signing lined up which has initiated this acceptance otherwise I dunno why it didn't break the second Woltemade was done.

Anyone who seriously thought 'let him rot' was a viable option was living in cloud cuckoo land tbh. As if we'd risk a £130m+ asset just depreciating and depreciating.

Well all our other other “assets” are now on the table to any of the bigger clubs, as they know know we will crumble

I'm not sure how soft we are for selling someone for £130m, but I think if reintegration was impossible then we only had one choice and that was to sell him for as much as we possibly could.

I dunno, I feel like I'm just kinda over it. There's been flickers of 'hope' (if you can call it that), but it always seemed inevitable that he'd go.

Again I couldn't careless about reintegration, this wasn't about weather he would play again or not. It was a test of our cloth. We got 130m so what? We got bent over, we sold someone who's world class and who wasn't for sale for a fee which is 10m more than a midget unproven German.

I understand people have had enough it makes sense, but that was all apart of the plan get the daft Geordies rilled up so they will take what they are given and we as a club have fallen for it. When a child throws a tantrum you don't give it to them. When a bully is weaker than you, you don't allow them to bully you.

Hopefully we can end window on a high after this and come back for wolves game in good spirits, win and use this as a catalyst for our season as a “prove doubters wrong” mentality.

With the Isak money, if we qualify for UCL again, we could seriously make some massive strides with who comes in and genuinely target a title push for 26-27

But we’re online in a forum, we know best (for clarity I’m totally with you)

Isak is irreplaceable - and we have just gift wrapped him to Liverpool.  Woltemode is a great signing but due to his potential.  We'll over pay on a bang average striker - if we are lucly - which will kill our PSR compliance.  Selling him this Summer is just idiotic- whatever Isak said to PIF clearly spooked them but they have been played.

Yep.

If we signed 2 players the profile of Nick W in terms of age and ceiling I wouldn’t mind - especially for decent fees. But we are going to pay £60m for players worth £40m. We already overspent on Nick W.

We’ll have a window where we’ve spent £300m and only 1 player has the potential to be top class.  That’s piss poor.

Consensus seems to be fee was £130 Mill plus he forewent his bonuses. £125 Mill is the scouse propaganda version, thread title needs updating.

Can you link the source re the bonuses?

And if we don't?

125m is a shit fee for one of the best strikers in the world and Liverpool have forced us to sell him under his value. The club haven't maximised his value. We look weak as fuck like.
