Feels like Cov have only got themselves to blame if they don’t win this - they’ve wasted so much good build-up work. I think Sunderland have taken the right approach for them, as dull as it is.

I get that, but there's a lot of big/rich teams in the Premier League now. There's always going to be a couple of English teams in the Europa League every season that are Champions League level clubs, at least in terms of revenue.

Say Chelsea are the ones to miss out of CL via the league this year, people will say the same thing about them next year as they are about us and Spurs now.

There's also the insinuation that it's an easy competition to win, which just isn't true IMO.

Definitely would yeah, which proves that it's not just because it's Man United and Spurs. I think we all thought removing the CL teams dropping in would make it better/fairer but so far it hasn't felt like that, albeit it's only been one year.

It makes it fairer inasmuch as teams aren’t getting a second chance at a cup, which feels right, but it obviously reduces the quality in the Europa’s latter stages which makes the power differential between the Premier League clubs and the rest all the more stark.
