Yep because they failed to get over the line in the last game of the season and had to change course.

 

Yes it’s very admirable and a season I’d be happy with but if you’ve followed my posts regarding Villa based on the feelings of a handful of friends who are Villa fans they gambled on finishing in UCL places after chucking away the easier route to the Cup Final and dropping some bankable home points in the UCL. The general feeling at the END of the season (which even you admitted it ended disappointingly :lol:) was disappointment. I even caveated by saying it wasn’t a terrible season.

To be clear I’m not knocking Villa at all. Always find it interesting to compare us both but whilst both ownerships have used different approaches to getting around PSR.

By that token Palace have achieved more than us and Villa.  The biggest achievements on the pitch don’t tell the entire story of the clubs.

Villa are basically last season’s Nottingham Forest. No idea how they’re doing it playing like this. They aren’t good or particularly well coached.

Honestly, this is all totally wrong. I’ll explain why later.

They do have good players though.  Only saw the second half. But Rogers, Tielemans, Sancho, Watkins, Kamara, Watkins were knocking it about nicely.  It’s a high technical floor team with strength and ability.  
 

I agree statistically it is Forest 24/25-esque but you would think Villa have the quality to stick the landing (CL at least) relying on Rogers and co rather than  MGW Wood and Elanga
