Prices, schedule, the fact that nobody is interested, 'qualification'/invitations based not on merit. Won't be watching a minute of it and I really hope it flops. Groundhog63
Just now, Stifler said: In my opinion, they should have to not compete in the EFL Cup if they do that. Says they'll exempt themselves from qualification into Europe via the English, domestic, route which would be varnigh impossible anyway. I guess they'd still want the lure of a profitable Cup run/game against a big team and remain in the pyramid. Cake and eat it, scenario

I was actually thinking about this the other day, about how the League Cup has lost a fair bit of its prestige in recent years, and how it feels like a lot of Premier League clubs playing in Europe can't wait for it to be binned. Not sure how possible it would be but to "fix" the competition, I would make it a UK Wide tournament (Maybe the top 4 leagues in England and Scotland, and the top 3 in Northern Ireland and Wales) but I would make it a competition that doesn't involve teams playing in Europe that season. Teams like Brentford may then decide to actually compete in it, as its a genuine chance of silverware, and you get some weird matchups that could be a good payday for clubs in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. HaydnNUFC
From a Leicester ITK so probably bullshit but rumours going around in Leicester circles that Van Nistelrooy is close to walking. Was promised signings and nowt happening. If true, what an absolute shambles that club is. Mad given how they were the envy of most of the league 3-6 years ago. Would be a convenient escape route for him to deflect from the absolutely diabolical results and performances.

The College Dropout
League Cup has more prestige now more than ever in my lifetime imo. Big clubs want to win it and have the squads to do it. The scheduling makes it better too.

It sounds good to me, much like the Texaco cup which we won in the 70’s, however I think it would just devalue it further to the money men. on the subject of obscure cups the mackems never even made it out of the qualifying for the Anglo Italian, so the furthest they got I think was Southend. The likes of Away Days and Footy Adventures are sound enough but their videos are so bloated with meaningless shite. She nails it by limiting to ten minutes and always strikes the balance of having something meaningful to say and just objectively presenting the situation. I think it has had a resurgence in ‘prestige’ but in my lifetime and particularly thinking back to childhood, (and beyond) 70s-mid 90s (maybe beyond) it didn’t seem to be a competition too clubs just tipped their cap at. Doctor Zaius
That is genuinely mad. I think we could be 2nd on goal difference without winning at home all season. Would anyone take it?
Kaizero
12 hours ago, Paully said: Insane this! Just popping in to say that the chances of that happening are absolutely not – in any way, shape or form – zero. They've played 19 games, across those 19 games they could have accumulated a maximum of 57 points. Without any home wins in those 19 matches, their maximum possible total points is 39. Even if they had lost all their home games, their maximum possible total of points would've been 30 – which would've seen them on the same amount of points as HSV in 5th. Needless to say, the amount of different combinations for accumulating the required amount of points to be placed #1 in the 2. Bundesliga after its 18th/19th fixtures are remain fairly plentiful, not zero, even without any home wins. However! The amount of times something like that has happened in the history of the 2. Bundesliga? Now THAT'S probably zero, or at the very least extremely close to zero. Stop using language and words wrong, world!
