Sheff Wed applied for Administration

But I thought football clubs were to be saved from this now that Everton have been docked points for financing a new stadium, Nottingham Forest have been docked points for building a team that could stay in the Premier League, Leicester have been chased around trying to get out of the Championship and trying to stay in the Premier a league, and us an Aston Villa are not able keep our best players as Liverpool buys everyone else talent, Man Utd spunk hundreds of millions shite players whilst they lay off dinner ladies and are over £1bn in the red and Spurs are allowed to be £1bn in the red financing their stadium.

It just goes to show that no one in either the football authorities or government care. They only care about the cartel clubs. Whats happening today an in recent years with Sheffield Wednesday wil happen again. Just like Leeds was, just like Portsmouth, just like how Blackburn were allowed to be owned by a convicted rapist, just like how Bury were not allowed to play games that could have saved them, just like Chesterfield, just like how the EFL approved the takeover of Wigan knowing that it was a ploy to put them into admiration so some guys in Asia could win a bit of money on a bet.

Glad we no longer have clubs falling into financial peril, chaos and administration under these new anti-ambition rules. Enshrining the elite of the day at the top forever was a small price to pay for preventing clubs like Bury and Sheffield Wednesday doing a Leeds.

Got the big match on from one of the itv channels, highlights of us at a snowy ayresome park from 1975 or so, and Kenneth wolstenholme constantly referring to us as United, lovely stuff.

3 all draw ?

I vaguely remember listening to the match reports from that actual game. I was 8. I thought it was amazing that both our full backs scored.

Went to Ayrseome 4 times. One of the toughest places to go to as a supporter

Aye, great old ground but we always got a warm welcome. My daughter went to Teeside uni and when I dropped her off at her 1st digs they were just across the road from the old Ayresome site. All the street names of the housing estate now built there are all Boro related. Clough Close, Maddren Way etc. My memories of those chaos filled streets came flooding back.

I went a couple of times early/mid 80s and the police would get on the train at Thornaby and say "there's their lads (and point to a gang on some wasteland), if you want to take them on we won't get involved if you get off here" ....... no one got off!

I was at Teesside Uni  92-96 and used to live in the shadows of old Ayresome Park for a couple of years - Bush Street and Chester Street.

Their fans behave like animals whenever we play them. The last time I think they were throwing stones and rocks down onto the A19 and A66 as our supporters arrived. One went through a window and hit a little kid.

It’s the reason why I’m happy that we haven’t came across them since our first Championship season.

There’s a few up there we haven’t played in a long time. Coventry, Boro must be 15/16 years each and Millwall will be 92/93. Think Bristol City and Stoke were 16/17 and Charlton must be early 2000s.

I was just reminiscing about that weird Stoke team that had Bojan, Affellay, Shakiri etc...i feel that would be impossible now with psr those players reserved for big six only. Even if Stoke were still pretty rubbish doubt stoke fans prefer things now

Charlton went down after selling us Parker I think and he scored a great goal for us down there so that would have been around 2007? Think we missed Cov  last time in championship and Boro too.  I was down boro for the 2-2 in the championship and our train window got put through, thats the last time we played them im sure.

Remember beating them 2-0 at SJP. Cov we beat at the Ricoh - I’m sure Nile Raper scored.

The fuck? Not clicking onto a mail article. What’s the vile reasoning for one game only on Boxing Day? Calendar pressures? Fuck off the rest of the calendar then, Boxing Day is sacred

Because the corporates are killing the game and will continue to do so as long as fans keep facilitating it.
