Still still not worthy of a thread

They claimed about £200m covid losses or something ridiculous

That is basically where the trouble arose. Everton’s covid loss figures posted were way out of kilter compared to other clubs for same financial year.

Laughing that they could’ve possibly avoided all this also if they had financed the new stadium rather than via “owner loan”. That’s not how money laundering works though in reality… Chelsea next please!

They're arguing it's disproportionate to the crime.

It's a bit more lenient than I was expecting really. They've still got a good chance of avoiding the drop.

An appeal can usually mean a longer ban, so I suspect they would have taken this on the chin, were it not for the possibility of being sued by the relegated clubs. That could be plenty serious.

So if this punishment was implemented quicker, Leicester stay up, Everton go down, they hold on to Harvey Barnes. We sign someone like Diaby instead, we dont lose Barnes to an injury, that doesnt put pressure on the rest of the team so Miggy, Isak, Wilson and Murphy also don't get injured.

This has cost us the title, potentially the CL next round.

As had been said it feels like Everton have been done a solid here. Take the points deduction and get rid of it hanging over them during a season where there is clearly three worse teams than the other 17.

They would have been dead and buried last season. Now they can move into their new stadium with a relatively clean slate albeit probably still quite limited means.

With respect, talk of taking the hit now, 3 worse teams, getting away with it, is a load of fucking condescending nonsense. It's all just rhetoric to take away from the core issue.

The punishment is totally and utterly disproportionate, and transparently unfounded.

It's going to make the relegation battle fun.

Everton will need 44-46 points to stay up you imagine. That's not a given for them but they will get close.

Edit: Tbh they might stay up with 40 (pre-points deduction). The others are way off the pace already.

Reports the three relegated teams are going to take legal action and rightly so. Didn't Sheff united get a massive payout from West Ham for playing unregistered (or some reason I can't remember) players. Surely if found guilty Chelsea and City will follow suit with the points deduction, big question however is when.

I'd expect Everton to get about 45 points come season end (35 with points deducted), but it's highly unlikely Luton, SheffU or Burnley will accumulate more than 30.

Trying to find a similar situation to Everton which seems to be perhaps Birmingham who got 9 points deducted.

Will be very interesting to see what City and Chelsea’s punishments are.

Yeah, there's no way if this happened to us we'd all be like "well, we're randomly in a relegation battle but at least the other teams are shit."

Is it unfair? I don't think it is. They've been very lucky it didn't come sooner and that they were allowed to hide behind covid to cover up most of their mess.

There's not enough points in the season to hit citeh and Chelsea for what should be coming their way, and that will be the actual issue, not this benchmark.

Everton fans always banging on about being a historic club. Now they have a historic pts deduction to go with it and something new to whinge about, which let's be fair, is what anyone from Liverpool truly cares about.

I'm seeing the relegated clubs are ready to sue them for £100m each. It's about to get messy.
