That's what I'm thinking and would have even if we'd won comfortably today.
Newcastle Fan
I think he will go for the same formation first leg, that team doesn't concede goals and can be a threat still, depending on the results we might see changes in the second leg. STM
It will be the same side. Why risk conceding a goal in the first leg? Isak in for Wison, at a push.

MrRaspberryJam
0-0. FYI, our 3-0 away win in 04 should be in that highlights reel. One of Dyers best goals for us that. Edit: it's the first highlight ffs. Edited January 21, 2023 by MrRaspberryJam
Geogaddi
Probably be happy enough with another 0-0 here , atmosphere for second leg would be electric and don’t think the saints could cope with it.
TheBrownBottle
Southampton leaving the Dell has been a godsend for us. We couldn’t buy a win at their old ground

Coach didn’t get back to Newcastle until about 6am - went straight to work with a change of clothes and did a rudimentary set of ablutions in the work bogs, still no doubt lifting of stale lager and tabs. Happy days
Geordie Ahmed
Going to be interesting to see how we approach this game Do we just play it safe and think let's keep it level and make it a one off tie at home or do we just go for it and try to get a comprehensive result in the first leg? I suspect Howe will go for it and then adjust accordingly if we did go behind
Danh1
Surely the last game we played is going to be in their minds. We weren’t even that good and we’re missing Wilson and Isak, yet still pumped them 1-4. Early goal and the flood gates could open as they’ll be pushing on to score and we will be able to pick them off on the break. samptime29
Would love a win but a draw isn't a disaster.
IzzyIsak
Yuge game. I'm feeling quite emotional about it all really, we don't normally do semi finals. A draw won't be a disaster but howay let's do em. Edited January 21, 2023 by IzzyIsak

I think almost all our 0-0 draws if we’d scored early would have been 3+ goal wins as we’d just dominate the teams.

Tsunami
Be really interesting how Soton approach this. They caused us problems early on in the league game but we then picked them off. This game could be anything. Absolutely vital we avoid conceding early.

Decky
Two legs against these man. If we don’t advance it would be an absolute disaster. I’ve full faith in Eddie and the lads. Let’s go win the first leg 2-0.
Doctor Zaius
Need a rejig of a stale front three imo. Id go: Joelinton Bruno Willock Almiron Isak ASM
Shak
Think we'll see Isak in for Wilson and otherwise unchanged from yesterday. The lack of scoring recently will be a worry but we just look so solid and I think Howe will be happy to take our chances in another tight game where we look more likely to score and if it ends 0-0 it's not a bad result by any means. Conjo
Unchanged for me. Southampton will want to get a lead ahead of the return fixture so will be more open than the likes of Palace & Leeds lately.
