My impression of NK is that they have extreme restrictions on what people can do or what information they can access, the ability to come and go from the country, and of course all employment is strictly controlled by the state. Also punishments for breaking laws can involve torture and be multigenerational (ie your kids and grandkids can be punished as well). But I’m open to anything showing this is nonsense, there’s a lot we don’t know about NK.

Escape from Camp 14 is worth a read.  Even if like all books that are kind of a biography, have some embellished parts.  There were a lot of info in there about NK.  As well as the defectors own views on the gulag he was in.

Wait, what thread is this?  Global politics or Sando Tonali?!

Nice and completely irrelevant straw man

I met actual North Korean defectors when I lived in South Korea. I've probably read more first hand accounts than I have any other subject. Including from those that lived and were even born in labour camps.

I'm sure many people there live happy fulfilled lives just like anybody else in any other country in the world and they shouldn't be turned into caricatures just for having the misfortune of being born there - but it is a police state where the citizens have less freedom than anywhere else on the planet and are subject to some of the worst human rights abuses imaginable.

It's not a strawman

"subject to some of the worst human rights abuses imaginable. "

I'll have to take your word for it, ample documented evidence to your quote however exists for the USA & Israel.

Pesky issue of narratives against facts

There's plenty of evidence for the crimes of both North Korea and Israel. You don't need to try and excuse one of the most oppressive regimes on the planet just because you (rightly) empathise with the suffering of Palestinians

You do you though pal.

" One of the really enjoyable things about watching Tonali play is how everything he does is “in motion”. It’s all part of progressing the play, immediately moving onto the next action so that everything looks continuous. It’s next level ability"

Him and Bruno are in our team and they love us.

There's a freedom to his game when he plays for Italy that I keep hoping we get to see in our kit but he's fucking mint.

Sandro Tonali has been of serious interest to Serie A clubs in 2025

Tonali took his good form with him on international duty, scoring the winner in a thrilling 5-4 win against Israel earlier this week.

Moments like that make fans realise how good a player they have in Tonali, and make others wish they had someone like him.

That is the story for multiple Serie A clubs, including his former side.

A report in March stated that AC Milan were ready to make a £50m offer for Tonali, though that is nowhere near acceptable for a player of his quality.

Which toe are AC Milan Planning to bid on £50m LMAO. :spit:

Remember when people thought he would flop as Italians don't translate to the premier league very well?

Food for thought considering some are saying the same things about Woltemade and German players. :mou:

150m and a 1 year loan back where he plays for us and they pay the full wages. As a thanks for selling us a player who was about to get banned for a year without us knowing.
