I don't want him to leave as I think he can still offer the team a lot next season. Having said that I won't be devastated if he does go, in 3 years he's been banned, had an amazing break out season and then poor last season, if we can get circa £100m for him then I think thats great business and we can really move in this transfer window.

I also think I'd rather him go to Spurs than any of the other cartel clubs, but I also think that would be a sideways step for him at best, but obviously worth more money for him if that's all he's bothered about.

I'll also echo @KaKa statement that I only want players here that want to play for the club and the manager, we need total commitment and buy in if we want to undo the wrongs of last season.

We're essentially a Palace/Brighton of sorts now, but on a bigger scale :banghead: We'll still have plenty opportunities for the occasional cup (especially the Europa League), but any player who develops into top tear or near enough will have the superleague clubs sniffing around.

A new ground may help improve our situation, but that's at least several years off if it does happen.

Nah we're a level above that. I'd say pretty much the same as Villa. Historically a big football club (those other 2 aren't), big fanbase, big stadium (especially relative to those 2) but unable to really kick on and challenge the elite on a constant basis for obvious reasons.

Agree a new stadium obviously propels our standing considerably and puts is in the elite category as far as stadiums go, but you're right, we're so far away from that it's not worth talking about it.

Is it not simply that they can't do that, rather than aren't going to?

Admittedly they could try, and we dont know, maybe they have.

But anything Saudi related/linked is going to be scrutinsed and battered down unlike the deals that Man City et al were/are able t push through.

I actually support them doing this - the Cartel will fucking hammer us for the slightest transgression so recognise we’re going to have it differently.

I’ll measure their commitment by the training ground and ground ultimately.

Last season the limit of what he did was being the legs in an otherwise pedestrian midfield.    I've no doubt we can pick someone up who can give us some pace and make recovery runs for half of what we get for Tonali.  It's his drive and determination that makes him a good player - if he has lost that commitment to us than i'm happy to see him peddled for big monrey

Aye I'd go along with that. Good player no doubt but if the money is right I think he's fairly easily replaceable given the type of player that he is and what he offers.

I mean it is what it is if he goes, but leaving us for 17th (twice in a row) place Spurs is a smack in the face.

I have no problem with players leaving for a good profit - We need to be good sellers and it's something we've historically struggled with. But as ever the most important thing by miles is who comes in to replace him, and for what price? If we can get that right, I have no issue with anyone going. But if we cannot or our targets are not available, we should refuse to sell.

I think our midfield is quite unbalanced so a shake up isn’t the worst idea. But losing him to Spurs, man. :anguish:

It is for sure, but that's also systematic imo.

Love Bruno, but his lack of pace means we are always going to be in trouble if he's caught up field.

Tonali out, MGW in please. Miley can replace Tonali imo. Also ship Willock out, MGW would be a huge upgrade.

So your midfield I assume is a 433/4231 if Miley, MGW and Bruno?

Reckon that midfield gets killed on the counter personally.

What a load of rubbish.  Tonali is a world class player!!  Why do people think he is wanted by the likes of

Arsenal and Manu and even if we made him available I have no doubt the likes of Real Madrid and Barca would join the race for him.  If he was easily replaceable why aren't his admirers chasing these  replacement players rather than shelling out the neck end of £100m?

World class?  World class players don’t play well for six months out of twenty four

Xavi Simons is on 200k a week, and that’s all that matters to most footballers. Remember that Tonali left his boyhood club to come here for more money.

If Tonali can push Spurs wage structure upwards towards 250k he’s not seeing it as a sideways step.

He might not have been at his best lately, but I see people have totally forgotten what his ceiling is. His passing has got worse than it used to be for whatever reason.

I can see him moving and thriving like I said. You don’t dominate a midfield against France unless you have top class ability/ceiling. For some reason his consistency has been meh, but so has our football in general as a team.

World class implies he’s one of the best in the world in his position, I think that’s a hard claim to make.

We still need to see who is actually in for him as well. His agent has been twerking for every club in Europe, if the end result is just a bid from Spurs, that’s damning IMO.
