I dont think we will go for Bergvall if he isnt on our list.

If it were to happen, id make it clear that they dont get Tonali without Bergvall and that they shouldn't expect a fair fee.

Not includeding Willock we already have Ramsey and Bruno for that role .

Just had the Spurs Reddit pop up in my feed and they're talking about the Tonali bid with the same energy we're talking about bringing in new players. After they were gazumped last minute for Eze they're worried about history repeating

They've been fodder for Chelsea and Arsenal for a decade dating back to the summer Mourinho stole Willian whilst he was at the Spurs training ground for a medical.

Longer than that. It’s more than 20 years since we brought in Frank Arnesen as DoF and then Chelsea immediately poached him. We’re one of the direct victims of them breaking the rules over agents etc with Eden Hazard, Willian and maybe others.

Morientes was the first one I really remember. Recall Hoddle talking about how, "we nearly signed him".

They got fined £10.25M. In 2025/26. Eden Hazard cost them £32M in 2012 (plus whatever they secretly paid) and they sold him for a fee that ended up being well over £100M. That’s just one of the transfers.

I’ve buried many of the post-Abramovich frustrations, but they still hurt.

I’m sorry, I might have missed something. Why are we hating Sandro now?

His agent has been hawing him about for months man , he's clearly desperate to leave and winning trophies isn't his motivation either if he is happy to join Spurs .

He has given us 1 good season in 3 and it's extremely likely he only ever joined us in the first place because he knew he was about to get banned.

I hate Isak but his behaviour was caused by him wanting to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the country where he should be guaranteed trophies . Sandro wants to go to Spurs ffs .

All agents do that, it's literally their job. As I said before I feel a lot of this is very misplaced.

If you're gonna get upset with him over this you might as well get upset with everyone in the squad.

I don't feel like he's done anything wrong personally.

I’d say all clubs, to a greater or lesser extent, and it’s up to old fogeys like me to keep the oral history/banter going .

I do think that Chelsea took everything to depths that crossed a line though, my own if not yours. The quote from the arbitration panel in that article said the charges had been “misconceived, bad in law and should not have been proceeded with”. Chelsea’s closet is a full-blown ossuary.

I know it’s sounds a bit weird but Tonalis agent might not be finding clubs as instructed by Tonali himself. To me it looks like he is trying to persuade Tonali to move by drumming up interests everywhere.

Tonali himself didn’t say anything publicly that he wants out.

This actually doesn't matter though. Regardless of if he instructed him or not hes happy to go along with it.

I try not to think like this and hope it's not the case but with him being hit with the huge ban just after he joined us you wonder if him and his agent knew this was on the cards.

Whatever tell Spurs it's £100m and he goes nowhere until we've got his replacement through the door.

We actually never got to hear just what or who Spurs made payments to. But the point that struck a chord with me was the comment about a fine being appropriate as opposed to a sporting sanction in effect t based on Spurs “ co operation “

Once you start to dig its quite revealing just how many clubs have reached agreements with the football authorities and that’s only the cases we get to know about. Man Utd it would seem are still embroiled in a HMRC investigation centring around image rights payments and be under no illusion they aren’t the only club that have these on going issues and if anyone thinks that payments aren’t made outside of the rules they are living in a very blinkered world.

Marcotti said on his podcast or at least hinted that Tonali is very attached to Newcastle and it feels more like Newcastle wanting/needing the money.

We've just came off a CL season and have already sold Gordon for £80m. If we're still needing money then there's something off somewhere. I don't think we do though.

Doesn't really line up with his agent pushing for a move for the best part of 6 months and Tonali playing down the contract extension that was reported at the start of this season.

this doesn’t feel like anyone else is waiting to swoop in. If he wants to go to Tottenham, he needs to tell them to pay the fee and get on with it.

Be funny as fuck if his agent has tried to use Tottenham to bat signal others into showing interest/bidding and he ends up there because they didn't

Every single scenario is funny now that I've resigned myself to losing him.

He goes to Spurs with the De Zerbi meltdown timer: funny.

Man City gazump Spurs: funny, a nice reminder that we aren't the only club that gets bullied.

Arsenal bid and Spurs get Eze'd by Arsenal for a second consecutive season: funny.

The whole thing is pretty weird. It's a sale that doesn't really benefit us that much, doesn't move his career forward (apart from money I guess) and extra legs is not really what Spurs need. Certainly not to the tune of £100m. Still hope he stays.

100%.  Funny how Isak is a ‘rat’ despite consistently performing in the shirt, and Tonali is an all-round good lad despite this not being the case, spending a year giving ‘come and get me eyes’ to any club that looks, and being shite for that period to boot.
