Next week the market will pick up...

Chelsea, Barca etc will have cleared their squads out

Rice, Mount will have made their moves

West Ham will have money to burn

Leeds, Leicester will begin their fire sales

Villa will continue to buy players (how do they get around FFP ?)

Kane will drag on all summer and then stay for one more year.

we will have Mctominay links on repeat but then buy a young worldie out of the blue.

I'm not coping lads :(

Lad on Newcastle Fans TV was waxing lyrical about Florian Wirtz yesterday as a potential option to Szob. Fits the profile for an attacking midfielder and right age for us.

He is an assist machine that boy.

The first half of the transfer window is a seller's market - teams chucking out inflated prices, not budging on valuations etc. As long as we've got a list of alternatives for each position we want to recruit in, the sensible play is to wait. Every club knows we have money so they'll try to bend us over. Players too. We just need to hold strong and the prices and wages will start to come down

Wirtz is a lovely player, but it'd take an insane fee to shift him. Seems more like Leverkusen are trying to push Frimpong and Diaby sales this summer more than anything else.

Wants to stay another year at leverkusen too, according to his father/agent. Will probably move next summer.

Yep, can only see the price going up after today. During Chelsea's mad splurge they often paid more than the clause to get more favourable payment terms.

He’ll probably end up at fucking Chelsea.

Can’t see any benefit in waiting until the last day to activate a release clause, if anyone wanted him at that price they’d have put the bid in by now.

Hope it's brinkmanship and Baldy Luke has a positive update this morning. He looks brilliant via Dennis Wise scouting.

Hypothetically if we triggered it late then Liverpool either need to decide straight away to do the same or RB would be under no obligation to accept their offer, so if he rejected us they can ask for more.

Not that I think that is the case, I’m not convinced either feel he is worth the release clause, if we did then we would have tied him up before Tonali.

Members of this forum thought one of the best sports KCs in the world was trying to send hidden messages through pictures of bread. No one wonder this could be seen as a smoking gun.

He was. Maybe not at 1st, and possibly by accident, but when he realised thousands on twitter were watching he absolutely started communicating indirectly to the fans. He loved it.

He still does it now. Absolutely loves his photography, has a room with hundreds of cameras in it.

It sounds like the wage stuff is as much Howe wanting to raise the wage limit steadily for dressing room harmony, as much as it is FFP. You'd imagine Bruno's new deal will see us raise the ceiling in that respect.

Take Villa for example. They're coming from a better starting  position than us, but they're still  approaching their whole "project" in a different way to us.

Villa have also sold £120m worth of academy player in the last 2 years which is a massive help with FFP.
