My favourite schadenfreude for the upcoming season is the hope that Darwin spurns a ton of chances

Barely relevant anecdote alert ‼️

Saw him in IKEA last night. Young star struck lad pointed him out, in hushed tones, I shrugged at irrelevance and walked past. Now sad I missed the opportunity for some shithousery ?‍♂️

I think RCB then we are done

Wouldn’t rule out very late loan depending on how season starts

January - Nothing

Summer - CF and LB

Yeah I’d agree with this, with a RW also on the cards for next summer.

January may see an opportunistic buy if one became available.

TBH I doubt pace will be the number one priority.

It would be great if we could find a CB who can pass and duel like Anderson and beat Darwin Nunez in a race.

But if that player exists it’s more likely he’s signing for Real Madrid or out of our price range.

We’ll need to stop the defence being exposed rather than rely on their individual speed.

Isn’t Nunez the quickest in the league ?

Fifth fastest in the league.

The only defender in the top ten is Kyle Walker, as CB’s are just not as quick as forwards in general.

It is why tactical adjustments are more important if you are playing against a team that play the long ball over the top for quick attackers, like we did at home against Brighton last season.

Anderson has decent pace - positionally and his general reading of the game is very good - his distribution is excellent also

Gives us some good opinions at the back if we form into a 3

Anderson - Schar - Botman

Anderson - Botman - Burn

Schar - Botman - Burn

etc

plus we still have Lascelles

No it was just an illustration if we play 433 with Burn (or Botman very occasionally) tucking in to make it a 3- then Big Joe playing slightly to the left with Gordon/Barnes ahead

Trippier/Livramento as RB

Pretty much last seasons set up albeit with another quality defender in Anderson giving us further options
