Calvert-Lewin is a load of shite. The striker situation should have been sorted in the summer with the return of Adam Armstrong and Anthony Gordon probably going the other way on loan as a makeweight. As it turns out injuries and his own commitment and good form have made Gordon a crucial part of the first team, but we all know how much a side suffers from a lack of focal point up top. Adam Armstrong is a proven goal-getter albeit at a lower level of the game, he's home grown and wouldn't mind playing backup and he's also just one centimetre shorter than Sergio Aguero.

No chance the club were going to go sign Gordon in January only to use him as a bargaining chip to get Adam Armstrong. Another striker was needed, but getting one to suit our system may have not been doable for an acceptable cost. While  DCL would just be another to add to the revolving of door of our Physio room alongside the rest of our strikers.

It's alright saying that now that it hasn't happened, which you might say is like being a 'wiseman' after the fact. But I hearken back to the early summer of '23, when Anthony Gordon was still seen as a player out of form and it seemed like everything was possible.

Newcastle United are monitoring Dominic Calvert-Lewin's situation at Everton as the England striker, 26, is on their list of potential targets for next summer. (TeamTalk)

Love a bit of monitoring. A good player, if he could stay fit which seemingly he can't he could be a great player.

We shoiuld definfately sign another striker with a poor injury record.

I assume this guy’s either totally insane or Adam Armstrong / a family member.

So in two months since he left for the Saudi league yous reckon mitro will be Sunday league fit. ? What a load of shite he'd be a loan if we fancy a striker for the rest of the year same with neves.

I watched a game and he was terrible. Looked massively unfit and heavy. Absolutely no way he would be in any shape to come in and play the way Howe wants and expects. Would take a while to get him in the right shape.

“Anthony Gordon had played 800 minutes of Premier League football and scored no professional goals when Eddie Howe was appointed Newcastle manager, which belies the idea that he'd wanted him for years and finally got his man. Since Gordon became a Premier League regular at the start of the 21/22 season he has managed a goal or assist every 421 minutes, whereas Adam Armstrong in at least an equally poor situation for Southampton has managed a goal or assist every 389 minutes. Far from being overburdened with pressure, rarely can less have been expected of a £40 million player who apparently wasn't supposed to start games, provide any assists, or score any goals. He's currently our seventh-choice wide player, which is generous because he's unfairly limiting the appearances of Elliot Anderson. And as a Scouser he's probably already past his physical peak, just like Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Neil Mellor, Jack Rodwell, and Ross Barkley before him.”

Obviously Anthony Gordon shagged his wife after Adam Armstrong knocked her back.

It's blatantly obvious that when the manager and owner talk about signings, using the word 'Elite' its because we are not re-signing Adam Armstrong.

Our signing under the new owners.

Botman

Isak

Bruno

Tonali

Trippier

Gordon

Livramento

Hall

Pope

(Probably missed a few)

Pretty solid signings, we are going in a whole new direction.

Played his first game in August so thats 4+ months in that league for a bloke who has never been reliable for staying in good shape....

Irrelevant anyway he is ineligable to play for a 3rd side this season

Ferguson snagging an aging sheringham was a master stroke. Same as that Swedish lad with the dredds who played for Celtic he got for a season or so. Name escapes me. Cavani recently not so good but there’s some virtue in experienced goal scorers who can do a job for a few months though.
not mitro mind. He’s a plank in his prime.
