Jaqen
I mean being patient and not just paying daft prices early in the window is what got us Isak in the end. A bit daft to be worrying about the window when he have one of the best hit rates in Europe for signings. Comparing it to windows where we literally weren't allowed to sign anyone is equally daft

Let them lose their shit man I'm more than happy to wait and see and, if it all goes Pete Tong, listen to them all shout "told you" I get the frustration, I guess, but the pecking order is clearly set. Big guns are shopping first. Feeder clubs lining up cheaper replacements for their own, soon to be snaffled up players, whilst the Wanabees wait.......patiently

We tried to go early if people recall but we're rejected 3 times. (Huijsen, Delap, Mbuemo).
Paully
Everyone panicking just needs to chill - we’ll spend big and there is loads of time left! The budget for incomings will significantly change if a big gun goes so that might be a reason for the delay (if one has to go then hopefully Gordon rather than Isak)! It’s not the Mike Ashley windows where we’ll try and fail to sign a Leicester reserve on loan!

Ikon
What is the “yearly cost” for a player like Isak/Tonali when it comes to amortisation and wages? 10-15m?
Keegans Export
Just now, Ikon said: What is the “yearly cost” for a player like Isak/Tonali when it comes to amortisation and wages? 10-15m? £10-15m/year amortisation, £6-8m/year wages I reckon. Assuming £50-65m transfer fee and £125-150k/week wages
aussiemag
2 minutes ago, Ikon said: What is the “yearly cost” for a player like Isak/Tonali when it comes to amortisation and wages? 10-15m? Probably 18-20 mill pounds a year.
Ikon
Yeah I thought 10-15 would be way too low as soon as I posted it A bit lazy to do the quite simple math. Unsure about their wages but still a poor guess. Cheers.
The College Dropout
A fair amount will depend on bonuses. Salary will be 5m-7m - but CL, 20+ goals etc. might be worth £1-5m - who knows
The College Dropout
The amortisation for both is no more than £11m. Salary we won't know for sure.

I haven't paid attention for years so I don't really know anything, but based on reading this board for the past few weeks I get the impression it's a case of when not if. I get why people are on edge based on past events. But like if history repeats itself, based on what I'm reading a whole bunch of people are gonna get fired So it probably will be fine. We definitely need a new RW, but behind Salah and Mbeumo we had arguably the best performing right winger in the country. Whilst we cant rely on Murphy having another season like that I also don't think we can expect Eddie to drop Murphy as soon as we get a new player in that position. A young player with a very high ceiling who wont expect to start every game but already has the experience and ability to be able to play in the PL sounds pretty perfect to me, particularly if we are looking at Pedro too. Sibierski
As said before, I’m more concerned about us still not getting the CEO / DoF sorted out at this point rather than transfers. Nickson will be leading on that right now with Howe and others for signings, but the structure above is a huge void and has been for a while now. Coupled with the need to get stuff signed off by PIF means we’re one of the least agile back office teams in the PL.

We need top 6-ready players but the rest of the top 6 also want these players and can offer more money, while still having that bit more prestige than us at the moment. I know last season was a shite league one but I'm still including Spurs in that bracket. 15 years leading up to it their average position is likely between 4-5th and they now have CL again. It stinks. Problem is where shopping with the big boys and getting blown out the water on wages. We need to be shopping in Europe it’s where our best business in terms of 1st team ready players has been done. Honestly think where wasting our time dealing with PL clubs, all of them will push the price up when we come knocking and happy to string us along. He is a good lad but we have to be realistic. RW has to be top player. We dont have time to wait and hope.

I imagine the same argument was made for replacing Dan Burn with a first team ready left back - we bought one who was expensive and with little experience and he is now arguably the best English left back in the league. If we buy someone with potential for the RW spot I will trust that the club have made the decision not just for next season but with the following season and those after that.
