NUFC Transfer Rumours

Didn't realise quite how bad Scalvini's injury record was.

Had a big injury then came back and got a completely different shoulder injury not long after. Feel for the lad. Hasn't really had a chance to come back and show he's recovered from the earlier injury. Then again I don't think Tino had done much playing post-injury before we bought him?

Selling Barnes would bring almost no transfer benefit from a PSR perspective other than freeing up his wages - we’re unlikely to sell him for an actual profit.

We don't need to sell for an actual profit to benefit though - just need to sell at above book value.

Not that I'd be selling him though unless it's to bring in a transformational talent. Id like to think we could get more headroom benefit from selling Longstaff and Willock than Barnes, well maybe close to the benefit rather than more...

65 games in 4 seasons.

Where have you got those stats from? From age 17-20 he played over 100 games which is almost unheard of in Italy for a young player to be trusted to that degree.

He did have however just have two serious injuries. An ACL he got just before the Euros then a serious shoulder injury literally just after coming back.

It's definitely a risk to sign any player who has basically missed a year of football - but we did it with Tino to success.

On a positive note, he seems to be quite versatile, apparently also played as DM and RB last season

He started as a 10 one game vs Bologna I think. It wasn't successful though but his versatility is a big positive.

Maybe he can be the Schar DM we all dreamed about.

Think he means he missed 65 games in 4 seasons as shown above.

he only managed 6 games last season and as of the last game of the season he was still injured. It would be a hell of a risk tbh and that’s not even considering the problems Botman has had too

I imagine without the injury history he'd be very difficult to land as the competition would be fierce.

Guess they'll be weighing up whether it's worth the risk to land a player of his calibre.

We did sign Tino coming off a year out injured with an ACL tear, and if I recall correctly, he also had some injury troubles early on in his career. Been quite surprised at how well he's held up in that regard since he joined.

If it weren’t for his injuries, all the big clubs would be after him. Could be a sneaky gamble like Livramento, but way bigger.

In Bunce we trust!

I wouldn't take any of those 'injuries' before last season listed on Transfermarkt with any seriousness. Just a very young player having their physical load managed in a good team. Up until last season he had played a lot of football for a player of his age anywhere, nevermind in a league that notoriously doesn't trust young players.

I agree it's a risk as to whether he shows he can recover from last season's injuries. I would also say that up to now he's only really played in a back three.

Just checked transfermakt, he actually played 30+ games in three consecutive seasons across all competitions before last season. So while the injury history is still alarming its not quite Woodgate level

Know nowt about him. Fact its the same guy that broke the Tonali news bodes well. Its the type of signing we like.

Injury record does look a worry but I assume if we are actually in for him we arent concerned.

What's his pace like? Thought we really need a pacey CB too.
