Had we known at the end of the season I feel we would have gone all in on Jonathon David

My boy is going to be awesome at Juve, would have been a great signing for us and seems to prefer black and white stripes. :)

Personally I’d aim for a CM that is good enough to play with Bruno and Tonali consistently. Love Big Joe but he lacks in some areas against some teams. Plus I have my doubts regarding his fitness. We need 4 class CM if we play with a 3. Preferably one with great technical qualities. We need to improve in this area. Said it for ages.

If your expectation for next season was that we're going to add 3-4 stars and storm our way to a title challenge, we clearly can't do that.

If your expectation was that we'll strengthen a problem position or two and then get in enough bodies so we can perform at a similar or slightly better level despite the extra CL fixtures, that still seems eminently achievable.

Would explain quite a lot to be fair.

Jamie Reuben is functionally useless and the elder Ruben's call him thicko behind his back. Andy Howe is 13 years old. Yasir is a MAGA golf nonce.

We're fucked.

Two major summer windows, where we sign just one permanent squad player is beyond incompetency (maybe two if Osula is actually considered one this season).

We have to sign players, can’t keep going with players that are failing. Saw it last season with Longstaff where they were offering nothing. Now with UCL on top, it’s only going to make things worse. Wish we had some youth you could at least cling onto in breaking out, but we don’t.

A lot of people saying they’d be happy with McGinn, I asked last week I’ll ask again just to get an idea if I’m miles out

if our window was…ramsdale, thaiw, elanga, Mcginn & Wissa. (Isak stays) Are you happy & Confident for the new season?

Our starting 11 would be :

Pope

Tino

Schar/Thiaw

Burn/Botman

Hall

Bruno

Tonali

Joelinton

Elanga

Isak

Gordon

With a bench of:

Ramsdale

Schar/Thiaw

Burn/Botman

Trippier

McGinn

Murphy

Barnes

Wissa

Its not bad like.  The issue is that it could have been way better and I accept that.

Said it earlier, I feel it’s a Midtable sides transfer window. Maybe that’s harsh but it’s so underwhelming and uninspiring

Its a lot stronger, but it doesnt scream CL ambitions.

Would make sense, but some of the names linked will still cost a fortune.

I genuinely think we can go big and get real quality in. The only next to impossible thing seems to be getting a striker in.

Thats why I’ve said that I’d be happy with Wissa and then go big for other positions, as well as filling the squad out. Strengthen the team and squad properly in other areas and we can still have a very good season.

The problem is that probably we’ll say the same in January

I dont entirely disagree but we are lucky we have a very good starting 11.

Ive put on record i think Howe + Ramsdale is a good match and I think it will look like really good business in 12 months.

Elanga, whilst not the technical players some wanted, is a tap in for this team.

Wissa is a great deputy to Isak (putting the striker shitshow aside).

Thiaw would be disappointing in comparison to the CBs I had in mind.

McGinn would be a great upgrade on Longstaff but very much a short term solution.

The real thing that gets us out of it, is having Howe. Howe tends to make water out of wine, and hes going to be asked to go to the well again.

Also, a bigger issue is that 3 of those players above haven't yet signed and neither of us have any confidence that even they will get done.

Doesn’t seem to be the case tho does it? Went cheap on the keeper and the defender & midfield links are Thaiw & Mcginn

This is getting worse by the day.

What joys will tomorrow bring? At least we can rest assured knowing we'll not hear any bad news while everyone at the club is off over the weekend. Two days of peace.

McGinn is a very good player... would be a good squad signing at the right price. But I appreciate it's not the shiny name some people would want.

I really truly think this whole Isak situation is fucking with our thinking though. I think we don't know whether we can go big on any position right now because we may need to somehow go big on another striker.

But there aren’t really any strikers to go big on anymore? That are good enough/worth it imo. That’s why I’d be happy with Wissa IF we strengthen properly in every other department.

Am I the only one thinking a window of Ramsdale, Thaiw, Elanga, McGinn and Wissa without any major outgoings would actually be pretty good?

I know it doesn't raise our ceiling at all, but it significantly improves the floor, which is all important this season.
