NUFC Transfer Rumours

Eddie Howe suggested Newcastle will not be in the market for a striker this summer.

Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade both arrived for big money last summer following the departure of Alexander Isak, but have struggled to replicate the Sweden international’s impact.

But asked if a centre-forward is on the list of priorities this summer, the Newcastle boss said: “Certainly not at the moment, because in terms of the striker numbers we’ve got, we’ve got healthy numbers in that position.

“I’d say it’s been a challenge for us, trying to find the right balance, trying to find a way to continually score goals and create the amount of chances that we want to. I don’t think we’re quite there yet.

“I think we’ve got work to do in that area but obviously Yoane (Wissa) has had fitness struggles, Will Osula has really grown late into the season and I think he’s done really well in recent games, of course Anthony (Gordon) has played there, Nick (Woltemade) has played there and done well earlier in the season.

“I think the players are there, we’ve just got to try and bring it all together and make it work.”

Stubbornly trying to prove the players he signed will come good? I wonder though as he played Gordon up front whether he'll see him as an excuse to buy another

Not sure if this has been reported anywhere else but I think this account isn't a standard transfer nonsense account. Might be wrong

Been a sensible move for the last 2 seasons imo.

I kind of despair when people take everything Eddie says literally.

“Not at the moment…The players are there”.

We’ve been told over and over again now, that one of Woltemade or Wissa will go at minimum. That would then free up space for the new striker. He’s not going to fucking announce that at a pre match press conference.

It's a very reliable account, despite the dodgy name.

Very good player but seems to have injury problems.

It was tentatively reported this morning and the BBC gossip column picked it up, so they’re probably just regurgitating that.

I don't know anything about the Championship - who is he, where does he play, is he different to what we already have?

Centre mid, bit of an all rounder but better with ball than without, pretty widely acclaimed to be the best player in the league. Porto tried to buy him last summer.

Aye he's been sought after for a while, just unsure why nobody has taken the leap of faith on him yet? (genuine question)

I've no doubt he's good/talented etc., just don't think we're bagging another Alex Scott or Wharton etc.

Sounds like someone who regularly plays 30+ games for Bournemouth a season, eventually ending up at Ipswich.

Not good enough Ross Wilson. Not good enough.

Saw him kick a ball to one of his teammates in that video - he'll do for me! Forgotten what that was like.
Cool as a cucumber as well.

Seems to kick it a long way too, there is some power there

Just now, Dr.Spaceman said:

Looks like a Sandro regen. Lots of recoveries, great passing range and super comfy on the ball.

Would be a smart low fee backup in that position. Exactly the sort of player that should be coming in to build up the squad.

Hopefully there's some truth in the rumour.
