NUFC Transfer Rumours

In isolation, Gallagher would be an amazing signing, especially as a Longstaff replacement, the perfect Eddie Howe midfielder

However, surely thar closes the door on a Pedro/Cunha type of footballer for us, which I very much want us to have

Depends? By all accounts we were looking at a Pedro type with longstaff in the squad so why wouldn’t we want one with Gallagher replacing Longstaff. All about squad strength now

So this Gallagher rumour…..

Whats the story ? Would he be interested in coming here….definitely…..maybe ? If he really wants the move he could be here now and play a key part in Sir Edward of Howe’s masterplan

Some might say, we’ve looked all around the world and Eddie has decided he has the potential to be a rock n roll star for us. D’you know what I mean?

Strikes me as odd he'd swap being a rotational option for being a rotational option, unless he wants to come back to England or AM need the money.

Certainly enhances midfield options and would open up the possibility of more Joelinton on the wing if we want to keep a tighter defensive structure or just kick the shit out of an irksome right back.

do you think he sees himself as a rotational option? He’ll probably think he can get himself in the first 11. Footballers tend to back themselves

That’s exactly what I thought, but if it’s correct that he doesn’t seem to really suit Atleti’s switch to 4-4-2, then it becomes a bit more of a possibility.

Well most people thought Pedro would be used as CF rotation with Isak, and as a SS in a 4-2-3-1, but I thought he'd also be used in Joelintons place too at times, he has the strength, height and general ability to play there

If we had 4 CM's of excellent quality (Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Gallagher) I couldn't see us play with a 2 man midfield and less likely to have a '10' role on the pitch

I'd see as strengthening our current style of play but not becoming more versatile

You may well be correct, although a good agent would be in his ear saying you aren't an automatic starter here, look at their midfield (although Joelinton gets injured lots and they have a lot of games).

He’d be a pretty shit agent if he said listen Conor you aren’t as good as those 3 but Joelinton might get injured.

I imagine CG will think if Eddie Howe wants me then I’ve a good chance of being in his plans. As I said footballers back themselves that’s why the likes of Pedro goes to Chelsea despite them having about 30 forwards.

I assumed and still do, that the Pedro signing or someone that can play CAM / ST was always with intention that Longstaff wouldn’t be here come end of August. So a one in one out squad position.

Well no, because we still need a striker to replace Wilson. Thats effectively 2 out 1 in

If you only consider transferring to teams where you're guaranteed to start, you'll limit your chances of joining a strong one.

Osula stepping up as the striker.

It would have been nice if we'd taken a proper look at certain times last season. Sorry for repeating the point but it's ridiculous that we gave Wilson so many minutes when we were leaving Osula on the bench time and time again.

It’s either you sign an out and out striker to replace Wilson, where their minutes is contained to only ST. Which if you are spending a big amount on, is poor business IMO. Or you get a freebie / very low cost.

When spending big, you will need them to be able to contribute in other positions to get value. Or it’s a £50m+ player that spends majority of their season on subs bench. Yea it’s depth, but the club in current position wouldn’t be getting value for money.

Wonder if we are forward planning as you suggest maybe the plan is for Willock to go too allowing that CM/CF to come in

Lots of interest in Willock too this summer apparently.

Seen links to Leeds, Palace, Fulham and West Ham.

Anyone remember the general feeling of signing elanga and gallagher when we were first linked with them...sure there was plenty saying they weren't good enough for what we need

Funny old world

Goes to show that you can sign squad players from the "big 6". Seems to be a bit of a sore subject when we get linked directly, yet here we are.
