NUFC Transfer Rumours

Gallagher would be a brilliant signing. Different players but I would put him as an 'equal' to Joelinton in the pecking order so would get plenty of minutes, especially with the amount of injuries Joelinton is starting to pick up.

He’d be a pretty shit agent if he said listen Conor you aren’t as good as those 3 but Joelinton might get injured.

I imagine CG will think if Eddie Howe wants me then I’ve a good chance of being in his plans. As I said footballers back themselves that’s why the likes of Pedro goes to Chelsea despite them having about 30 forwards.

Respectfully I don’t think that’s what I’m saying. I think a good agent would say - and I think Howe would say - you’ve every chance of minutes if you earn them but that’s a competitive starting midfield 3. With that said, injuries and fixtures mean time will likely be available, and you’ll get a fair chance to impress. That may well be enough for him, but if the logic in leaving is to become an automatic regular (which he hasn’t been much in his career I don’t think), then this might not be the move for him.

If you only consider transferring to teams where you're guaranteed to start, you'll limit your chances of joining a strong one.

You could be correct. I think it must be something that goes through their mind: am I going to play? A manager will always offer warm words in this regard, but looking at the competition in my position, am I going to play lots?

I think he’d play quite a lot, because in my view he’d be ahead of miley and willock on the depth chart. My question is, is that enough for him? Quite possibly it is.

Slight concern that it might make Miley seek minutes elsewhere given the rumblings of wanting more playing time, but that’s a risk worth taking in my view.

In:

Trafford

Scalvini

Gallagher

Elanga

Ekitike

Out:

Dubravka

Longstaff

Yes I know we can't afford that and it won't happen, but we can dream!

Those incomings would be a dream. Need more outgoings. Maybe willock?

Would just leave us short in midfield, especially if we got two mid to long term injuries which is possible with Miley and Joelinton.

We will probably have to settle for a cheaper option to Ekitike.

He is very much a rotation player there - I don’t think he has the ball retention ability which is the La Liga style, plus they have signed Alex Baena who I think is a similar player?

Mikky is the fountain of all footballing knowledge. No messing around.

It’s either you sign an out and out striker to replace Wilson, where their minutes is contained to only ST. Which if you are spending a big amount on, is poor business IMO. Or you get a freebie / very low cost.

When spending big, you will need them to be able to contribute in other positions to get value. Or it’s a £50m+ player that spends majority of their season on subs bench. Yea it’s depth, but the club in current position wouldn’t be getting value for money.

Thats what made JP ideal. He could play with Isak justifying the big fee.

Gallacher does not improve any team 3 goals 3 assists jeez guys look up not down

Not all contributions can be measured by these metrics though. You need a strong engine to allow your creative players to do their thing. Gallagher has that.

He got 8 goals and 3 assists that season on loan at Palace.

Has goal contributions in him too. Think we could get that out of him.

Exactly.

One of the main qualities I could see Gallagher bringing us is the fact that we'd have the ability to play someone competent in CM which allows us to preserve one of our other 3, primarily Joelinton, thus getting the best out of him.

Have to laugh when we were linked with him from Chelsea everyone was totally against it.  'Cos he's been to AM everyones now on the hype train :D

Still wouldn't be my choice tbh.  We need a bit more skill and guile rather than more hard work and running imo.

In fairness, I think everyone was very down on him as he’s not a creative player and isn’t flashy + doesn’t really dribble. So I and others talked him down when he was at Chelsea. However, he’s one of the best off the ball in the world and he’s extremely good at shielding the ball and releasing it. Can’t really figure out what we’d be doing formation wise if he was playing alongside Bruno and Tonali though. Can only imagine it would be Tonali who would be more advanced

Not my ideal choice but if we could get him for as cheap as say 35m then he would be a very good addition to the squad. Especially when you consider how much more reliable and better he is than Willock and Longstaff.

Most didn’t want him from Chelsea was mostly because of the fee. Also we kind of have to prioritise where we put all our money considering how many holes we have to fill in total. Gallagher is so so much better than nothing, or most options for similar price. I can see him improving under Howe as well because I reckon he will work well tactically in our team.

I’m happy he’s coming in as a longstaff replacement. If like it was then he was coming in to start every game my stance would be the same tbh
