NUFC Transfer Rumours

I think Gallagher would be a great signing but realistically I don’t think he will want to join us. First, AM will also be playing in CL next season. He is currently on 150k a wk and we wouldn’t be offering much of a pay rise if any. And he as a multimillionaire is from London and currently playing in Madrid. Chances are that Newcastle won’t be an attractive enough city for him.

Pay rise if we give him the same wage would be automatic due to the currency exchange, fees and tax. If he also acts as a dual citizen then its considerable. people always talk about wage on here but never factor that in

I'm not sure about that mind, the general consensus was that he runs around a lot doing fuck all. Now he's replacing big Joe ffs

He was/is deemed shit by most on here, I never understood why he was so underrated.

He is ready made for this side and would be a great signing.

I think post-takeover, my opinion and criteria on what would be a good, desirable and exciting signing have changed quite a lot over time. Eddie has cultivated a strong identity with certain fundamental qualities, and then pursued and bought players carefully to fulfil roles in that style to make it function. Most importantly, it's a style and an identity the fans almost unanimously enjoy and feel represented by and now trust due to the success it's brought. So now when linked with players like Gallagher and Elanga, where previously I may have found it uninspiring, I'm now excited by how those players could make our way of playing even more effective.

Fair comment. From what I've seen he's a decent player but for reference, nowhere near the effectiveness of Joelinton. I'd be ok him coming in for Longstaff, if that's the plan

I think it is fair to say Trippier's case was very much an exception due to his circumstances. Gallagher too might want to return to PL and could consider us. Realistically the chances are slim but I would be quite happy if he decides to join us. Seems he had a decent season in La Liga, and I remember he was actually one of Chelsea's best players in his last season there.

Aye, I rate Joelinton higher and still consider him as one of our most important players. Gallagher as the 4th midfielder and a versatile option with the capacity to potentially cover a few of the midfield roles would be an excellent addition to the squad though.

Can people stop saying players we may sign will be backup.

We have a lot if games next season and anyone we sign will be used in rotation so we can play Eddie Ball with more intensity over the whole season. Its called having a squad.

You're right. We need to get out of a set 11 mentality. Those days are gone

You'll still have 11 or so who depending on injuries will start 30 plus and those who'll start under 15. So they're backups in my eyes.

Realistically we don’t know his circumstances. I’d love him here. Let’s see what occurs.

I get the point but I still do believe most squads including ours adheres to a hierarchy, which does mean certain players will be lower in the hierarchy and therefore somewhat back-up. Eddie would never say it but there's a certain 11 players who he would rather play Bayern Munich at home for instance, and use others for say Wolves away 4 days prior. Semantics really.

You're describing rotation though right.

I get your point but essentially we're unable to do what you're saying as Eddie doesn't trust the replacements to step up.

That's the part that needs addressing - hence the need for a stronger "squad".

I suppose I am, but I'm saying it's a semantic issue really. There is 11 players who are considered the best 11 I believe, and would be played if available in more significant games. We can call the players who fall outside of that back-ups or we can say they're rotation options.

Basically Joelinton is King and the rest courtiers.

I've never exactly been on Team Gallagher but if we get him for no more than £30m (while selling Longstaff), I think he's a very interesting fourth midfielder to have.

A versatile alternative to Joao Pedro would be even lovelier, mind.

Curtis Jones started 27 games for Liverpool last season in all comps. He’s not first choice. It’s a squad game now. Started 19 in the league I think.

People seriously think a starting midfield three of Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton is better than a midfield three of Tonali, Bruno, Gallagher? Y’all are crazy man.

I’m having Joelinton all day long
