At least we can put to bed to the he won’t leave London rumours we used to hear, every time he was linked before.

Aye but madrid is abit different to the murky norf

He always strikes me as someone who would never come up here tbh

I think he would, especially with the amount of games.

Atleti will have just a many, if not more?

Not sure exactly where he is in their pecking order like?

Glad the majority are behind the Gallagher rumour. Be an outstanding addition.

He's been Simeone'd too so he'd run through a brick wall then build it again just to run back through it for Eddie.

Perfect fit for this club imo.

Support this 100%. Again, safety first - we know what we’re getting - and I think he’d be a great fit for us. £35-40m for the 3rd/4th choice midfielder isn’t bad going.

Few weeks of informal talks, get him signed whilst they’re over for a friendly, straight in the squad for Villa away and then announced as signed in early September.

Apparently he was high up the pecking order when Atleti were playing a three-man midfield, but they've switched to 4-4-2 and he's been forced to play wider left which doesn't suit him. Could mean he'd be higher up the pecking order here. I can imagine games where Eddie would start him for tactical reasons rather than just giving our other three a rest too. This is what I read anyway, I have no first hand knowledge.

Anyone remember the general feeling of signing elanga and gallagher when we were first linked with them...sure there was plenty saying they weren't good enough for what we need

Funny old world

So this Gallagher rumour…..

Whats the story ? Would he be interested in coming here….definitely…..maybe ? If he really wants the move he could be here now and play a key part in Sir Edward of Howe’s masterplan

In isolation, Gallagher would be an amazing signing, especially as a Longstaff replacement, the perfect Eddie Howe midfielder

However, surely thar closes the door on a Pedro/Cunha type of footballer for us, which I very much want us to have
