DCL.

I'll crawl back in my hole now.

If that was the only option I would accept it over not getting another ST in at all. I still don't know if Howe is trusting Osula in many games so Isak would get overused all season. DCL would atleast give him some respite as I could absolutely see him being ahead of Osula immediately (for obvious reasons).

The Osula file is curious thing. Eddie's had him for a year now.

He's 22 in 3 weeks.

He's mad as a box of frogs but lively af and unpredictable.

For me it's either time for Mr Howe to let the kid loose or admit defeat.

Fwiw I'd stick with the Isak, Osula, Gordon pecking order for the middle of our front 3.

If we're watching our budget, and we are, why spunk money on another Cf?

Unless, of course, Osula isn't rated.

In that case a DCL freebie wouldn't be unreasonable

DCL and Gallagher or Ekitike only?

Depends if Longstaff leaves. If he does, then we absolutely need to replace him so I'd have to say DCL & Gallagher, but if Longstaff stays then I'm happy with that midfield six for now and Ekitike raises our attacking levels a fair bit.

And this was a squad that was small and tired towards the end of the season.   If a team plays 433 they need 4-5 trustworthy CMs, 5 attackers imo.

I think Gallagher would allow us to play him, Tonali & Joelinton to start 28-32 league games between them. Plus cups and Europe obviously. Miley staying might give Bruno a few games breather but not the same level of swapping as the other three. Willock staying on another year with Longstaff going. Might be enough this season, though, Bruno seems to be able to manage the games and he's now had a summer off.

Is this Ekitike stuff actually plausible? I seen the 80m price tag and ruled it out immediately.

I don't see why not, let's go for it and just do some creative accounting down the line

Nar fuck that, Chelsea and Man City are earning millions in competitions outside the remit of UEFA and rather EPL, that should open the floodgates for us to arrange matches against Saudis teams for ridiculous prize money

When it comes to exploiting loop holes if you can't beat them join them. It's getting ridiculous- Chelsea have more cash than they know what to do with

Upgrading midfield options by selling Longstaff and buying Gallagher seems a no brainer to me. It would be a minimal hit on PSR and he is a big upgrade on Longstaff. With the recent injury woes of big Joelinton I think Gallagher would have a lot to offer this season.

Fits the profile of the types of PL ready players we’re after, with the bonus of Champions League experience at a major club.

Can imagine us being behind in said friendly and having to finish the game Alan Shearer testimonial style…nothing to see here!

Keith Downie suggesting we can only do one transfer at a time due to lack of staff at the club hence the pace of the Elanga and Trafford signings. He also reckons we are in danger of missing out on targets due to this. What a position to be in.

If this is true, which I hope not, it points to some obvious structural problems within the club. Quite surprising when the new ownership group have been in place for so long.

Tbf this is downies impression so might not be 100% accurate. It does sound plausible though. Just throwing it out there but maybe that is a reason for us revisiting the old transfer targets from last year when we were in the same predicament?

Keith Downie largely knows fuck all.

We have one set of journalists who say shit like that, and others (Hope) who say the delayed announcement was due to the change in agents.

Not buying it. You see players (more likely agents) stalling a bit when they learn of other interested parties. All it takes is interest and they'll wait to see if it leads to anything. Are we so wrapped up in negotiations we can't even express an interest elsewhere ?
