NUFC Transfer Rumours

What has been our fault ?

My feeling is that the issues with the DOF/Mitchell set us off on the back foot and we’ve not given ourselves the best chance to complete deals by being painfully slow to act

Downie definitely makes it seem like we only do one deal at a time. Trafford can’t get done so we try for a striker, we can’t get him so we go for a CB. Seems very disorganised.

Howe & co are literally doing two jobs. For all the "hes probably glad Mitchell is gone", its not an ideal situation being without a SD.

Think the brilliant minds of N-O should step up and do this transfer window for the club. Let Eddie focus on making us even more mint than last season.

I was not having a go at Howe. Hes saying it himself in the interview, SD is such a pivotal role.

I agree it seems to be a problem getting these players in without a director of football and Eddie is starting to realise that based on his latest interview.

Just a member of N-O saying what a superb job Howe is doing.

Taking a week plus to get a deal done 3 to 5 players to sign 6 weeks left loads of time to weigh up, assess, consider etc take your time lads always jan window 😭

I think it was always unlikely we got everything we needed due to funds. Time is also against us now as well.

I know my comments I can already argue with myself over there are a list of reasons

The calibre of player has other top teams interested.

We are hampered by precieved local, presitege etc

We can't pay champions league wages

Howe has a set sort of player and character he wants.

Unwilling sellers and high prices for us and the market.

The money has to work and stretch no room for errors.

HOWEVER

We are or feels like we are so close to kicking in with good recruitment.

We are or feels like we are a few  injuries away with the current holes in the squad of having a mare of a season.

We have champions league now does it not attract  or count for anything?

Just very frustrating its seemingly becoming a hard slog.

Which players have we missed out on that you wish we had signed?

There probably has been only 9 or 10 major moves so far this window so there does not seem a lot of clubs ... Apart from Bournemouth and Brentford who are selling

Ekitike, Cunha and Huijsen that’s it.

that defensive transfer is a must given we tried for weeks for Guehi but we couldnt meet the price with Palace a year ago. we took a risk go into the season and Burn and Schar stepped up again and took lion share of minutes but they are almost 70 yo together. Botman is class when fully fit which is about 40% of the time. also Burn needs to fill in at LB when Hall needs a rest or injured.

with 8 hard CL games coming up between August and January this will be really huge test for us physically. we will have very few weeks without midweek games, once Carabao kicks off.

very little news tho, Scalvini is one that mentioned, but 40-50m price a bit steep for us. I think we should keep an eye on City squads as they might wanna move out few experienced defenders, I saw rumours about Stones or Akanji or Ake. 15m price maybe could be enough to get one of them if Guardiola wants them out and they got quite nice CL experience too. (Stones very injury prone tho, but imo class when fit)

if Guehi still could be done at 35/40m, I would do that tho as home grown, and at a good age with PL experience and ready to hold down a starting spot for England too.

Stop pissing about and go get me Giorgio Scalvini.

Scalvini is a player I'd love to get. Yes it's on the back of major injury so there's that concern, but he's a huge prospect and isn't that pretty much how we landed Livramento?

Do you think Real Madrid need a DOF to get footballers in?

Sometimes it is what it is… the players we wanted at top of our lists were also wanted by more financially established clubs… no surprise. I take comfort in who we are targeting look very good players at a good age.

Last summer fans moaned about us seemingly spending too much time on Guehi. I don’t think we actually did personally but regardless it’s clear we certainly aren’t this time.
