SSN doing a run down of each club alphabetically of transfer news. A-M each get news of a player mentioned. Gets to Newcastle and they say Eddie Howe is confident of bringing players in

says it all

Technically we’ve signed four players though three of them are prospects:

Anthony Elanga

Park Seung-soo
Antonio Cordero

Vakhtang Salia (When he turns 18 in August).

We playing in a completely different market than we used to and I suspect we lacking the experience to deal with the characters we encountering now who are likely seasoned super agents and experienced execs. Not every lesson should be learnt the hard way, get some help fast

Im surprised that one of the worlds biggest sovereign wealth funds, one with a history of successfully investing in and growing some of the worlds largest brands - has been so fucking naive.

The football world isn’t like the business world - it’s fast paced (especially during the transfer window), it’s more cutthroat and it can swing from jeopardy to jubilation in the space to a week. There needs to be a proper decision maker on the ground who has complete autonomy with it having to defer to Riyadh for every decision. Stavely seemed to have their trust to operate as she saw fit - she needs to be properly replaced. Things just clearly aren’t working.

over and above your points above its crazy that we only figuring out much later that players would prefer another club/city. We lacking in the dark arts of transfers at this level. how to circumvent tapping up rules, how to use the media and the 'for hire' social media twats to our advantage.

We trying to play with a straight bat in a limited overs game when the run rate is against us.

It doesn't help that these top six bastards hijack every transfer we're trying to make. If we get a run at someone without them sticking their nose in we'll get them.

As soon as we go after them their shitty fucking agents start throwing their name around with a price tag and that’s when these clubs start circling. It’s fucking exhausting.

It's starting to feel like some of these players aren't even wanted by them lot, they just don't want us to have them and they don't have PSR limitations to contend with so can buy £50-60m players to warm their benches.

I don't knock the agents personally. They are acting in the interest of the client and trying to secure the best deal possible for both themselves and client.

We've tried to shop in the wrong stores and come back with just one signing unfortunately

Pressure is obviously massive now for all involved.

Lol at the Geordie journos for blaming the ghost of Paul mitchell

Nah, this isn't the case. Like us clubs have a list of players for each position. Obviously Isak was 1 for Liverpool but it appears they aren't able to do a deal at a price they want so they moved on to 2 Ekitike.

This is all likely driven by Jotas demise and then wanting rid of Nunez.

Hard to come to any other conclusion. What makes it worse is that we saw this last summer as well with Guehi where it felt like we were just chasing shadows while the likes of Liverpool have just bided their time and if they want him, will just move in when they need to and get it done.

Guehi last summer was text book wrong store buying.

So many good centre halves have transferred for much less than that pursuit.

Maybe we need to be doing similar with mid table teams. Hire an ex MI6 operator or two!

There's Luke Edwards' article.

Nothing we haven't already discussed. We are trying for top players without being able to offer top wages etc.

Feels like the kind of article you can justify at the end of a summer transfer window, would be very Newcastle to go and sign a few good players now.

If the parts about tilting back to our former direction (looking for potential) and Isak are from solid sources then both are good news.

Hard to describe our initial approach to the window as anything but flawed or naive.

Needs to be some sort of movement (players in!🙈) this week or I can see Howe having a serious think about wether or not he’s getting the proper support (he currently isn’t).

I've seen this line repeated a lot about Eddie not being supported but I'm struggling to understand the point?

Not being supported as in he's having to get his hands dirty when it comes to transfers? Or not being supported as I've we haven't spent up to psr limit every time?

If he's not getting the proper support it's down to Eales IMO. If Howe and Mitchell wasn't going to work, Eales should have got shot of Mitchell earlier and got someone else who could deal with transfers. If Eales wasn't up to doing this due to health issues then he should have stepped down and someone else appointed even as an interim measure.
