Same old same old from Eddie. He's right, we can't afford to sign mediocrity. He's not daft, he's got his own team working on it, I'm sure we'll get a couple in at least.

Nice summary from NUFCBlog there:

“Panic buys must be avoided, unless we don’t sign anyone soon then we have to panic buy”

I don’t find those quotes too worrying other than the fact our transfer approach is incredibly flawed but I do agree with not overpaying for people who aren’t quite right. I just think the issues are to do with issues bigger than this window, for whatever reason we’ve abandoned a successful transfer strategy and it’s very unclear why. I’d like to know why

If you ain’t sure that you will play that player, and still go for it, and in the end really not good enough, you feel like you lost a gamble and so you won’t go ahead.

Instead if you go and find someone that you are dead-sure you will play, then even if he is not good enough you would feel like you did your best already.

In the past it’s not Howe that makes the final decision on transfer. Now he is. Honestly given Howe’s preference on always playing the best 11 players available, I ain’t surprised that he will only target those that can improve the starting 11. Ekitike is an exceptional case because he was going to replace Isak.

2 weeks and 4 days until Villa away.

Signed Elanga

Sold Longstaff and released Wilson

Isak seen his arse

Numerically weaker and Osula/Neave currently our available strikers

No way to gloss it up this summer is currently shambolic

Club has minimal time to sort it

Only positive from that is Villa away, who are also not signing right now and have question marks over Watkins (with Martinez suspended first game).

What should be a very hard game, becomes a lot more 50/50 at worse which I’ll take right now.

Bodes really well considering we have 1 through the door in nearly 2 months [emoji38]

I believe. Guehi, Ramsdale, Sesko, Wissa and Musah.

I've backed you all summer, Andy. Repay me with this.

 - PSR means we can't waste money so targeting PL players reduces risk

 - Our target is improving on 5th not 19th or 12th

 - Tonali

Not defending the execution but the reasons are pretty straightforward imo.

I'm assuming all the Jackson talk means we've cooled on Sesko

Or we show Leipzig we have other options too to get the fee down.

What would be peoples thoughts on Jackson and Sesko?

Can you honestly see that happening? We might get Jackson for a ridiculous price of say £80m (Chelsea don't have to sell and know we're desperate), but Sesko just feels like another Ekitike situation e.g. our name being used to encourage interest from bigger clubs.

Sesko I’m not even thinking about. Jackson is possible and is probably the surest thing we can get to replace Isak’s goals, but we’ll have to overpay. If we sell Isak before a replacement is lined up, massively overpaying for Jackson might be necessary.
