NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

With how dreadful this transfer window has been, you start to wonder if we need to go back to the approach we had just after the takeover, targeting the likes of Bruno, Botman, Gordon etc. Players with huge potential who weren’t quite on the radar of the big boys yet. Maybe we thought that a cup win and a couple of Champions League runs would suddenly let us go toe to toe with the elite in the transfer market. But the reality check is clear, we’re not there yet.

It’s going to take more than a few good seasons to truly compete at that level. In the meantime we have to be smart. That means relying heavily on a top notch scouting department who can find those under-the-radar signings before others do and frankly that has to be a top priority for the incoming CEO.

Were our expectations just skewed after that bit of early success? Or have we wasted time chasing names we were never going to win the race for?

This is where we are for now. To break out of this cycle we need to do two things: grow our revenue to offer competitive wages and fees and build the best scouting network in the league. I think those should be the priority of our new CEO. Simple as that.

You don’t have to get to bidding stage to be politely told no chance. Think it’s safe to assume we at least enquired about Huijsen, Mbuemo and Delap. Guehi who knows if we’ve tried again for him. Kudus there were some rumours, but personally don’t believe he he was an option. Could easily add Cunha though. It’s been a brutal window of mostly rejection and disappointment.

Like the first month after signing up for Plenty Of Fish…

Thiaw, apparently.

Well yeah, but it doesn’t seem that it was started that many seconds ago. One would think that there would be more concrete bids for these positions by now. As long as we get the right ones in before the window closes. No excuses after that imo.

Thats true. But once formal offers are made for players it’s quite rare that they stay quiet in this era. It’s become next to impossible to keep it quiet. Especially for good quality.

What we need to do is get PSR declared illegal, or voted out, or otherwise abolished.

What happened to the Scalvini links?

Last I saw when we enquired, Atalanta said he was 'unsellable', or something.

Then a few weeks later, Chel$ea were linked with him for €50m.

We have to console ourselves with thoughts of what this window would have been like if we hadnt got champions league football. It’s scarcely believable how badly it’s gone given we did get it

I think what's frustrating is, Howe has shown that those types of players are the ideal ones to give him too. He can polish them up around the edges and turn them into elite players. It almost feels like an ego thing, like we feel we have to be competing for the same players as the elite clubs to show we belong there, but we evidently still can't compete due to PSR, wages and general pull

Elanga is the perfect example of the kind of player we should be targeting and was a great start to the window. The other names have always felt a step beyond where we currently are to me.

Doesn’t make a blind bit of difference anymore.

Or if there were negotiations taking place at all.

Right... We will sign someone by Friday 😁.

Or next Friday

Please

I’d take any signings even if it meant waiting until the end of the window now. It’s terrifying the position we’re in a week and a half from the start of the season

No matter how hard the Sky 6 client media try to fuel the Jackson rumours I don't imagine that ever happening.

I doubt Eddie Howe rates him at all, doesn't fit the profile of player he generally likes to recruit.

Has it been mentioned Ramos  PSG as a potential ?.

You can’t just pluck names out of a hat, the club has to do the due diligence, scouting etc. this is how signings can go terribly wrong. If we don’t get Sesko we have to convince Isak to stay somehow.
