NUFC Transfer Rumours

AMs are out of fashion, so there's a lot of decent ones out there still waiting for a pickup. Akliouche and Mitaukadze from Ligue 1, for example, the latter of which is available at a seemingly bargain price. If we're indeed shopping in Serie A, the logical buy would be Nico Paz from Como, they bought him last summer for only 6 million Euros and he's typical "Barca technique" but lots of running and bite. Nifty little player.

Attacking midfielder is a loose term tbh, you could easily also be looking at CMs who are more focused on going forward and be described as an attacking midfielder. Doesn't necessarily mean it's a #10 type.

I want a Yaya Toure style CM. Someone who can just travel with the ball, break the lines, and have the overal finnese to still pick out the passes at the end.

Joelinton but loads more end product

According to google he isn't an attacking midfielder so you can probably rule him out.

I thought he was a box to box player? Six goals in 34 games in 2023/24 is a decent return but it does seem more an oddity.

I have no idea, which is why i said "google" I know nothing, but he was described on more of the defensive side from what I can tell. If i'm wrong then fair enough. (I'll just blame google for being a useless nonce)

Does he play off the RW as opposed to AM? Genuine question having not seen much of him

He does, yeh but he's played across all front 3 positions and definitely has the quality to play behind the striker and in midfield if needed.

Who would be the 'howeh we're not getting him but he'd be perfect' attacking midfield target? Unless we've changed our approach now (which Thiaw possibly suggests) it might be someone like that.

As much as it won't happen, Paqueta would fit us like a glove.

I can see it being Justin Kluivert as he ticks a lot of boxes, including running rings around us last season.

He's more of a forward isn't he?

He plays in a midfield three but is the main link up player in transitions when Bournemouth attack, the thing with him is that not only is he good going forward but he also puts in the work that Howe would want from a pressing point of view.

Bournemouth have Alex Scott who will slot in if he is sold, such is their football club model of turning players over.

Akliouche does seem to perform in all the metrics we don’t necessarily have in the squad, like. Gets the ball in the middle third and either passes or carries it into the final third/opponent’s box. Doesn’t score as many goals as he should be finishing can be improved.

linked with Spurs since the Maddison injury.
