No truth in the Brazilian forward says Hope. Shocked its made up ..

Technically the question was about us making an approach and Howe said there's no truth in it. So could be interest, just not that we've actually made an approach yet.

Or, more like, it's utter bollocks.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are open to offers for Anthony Gordon, as his form has nosedived.

Newcastle would want a big fee and the feeling is they could get someone with more end product instead.

So

1. Why would anyone buy Gordon when his form has 'nosedived'?

2. Why wouldn't any club after him just go after whoever we are supposedly looking at to replace him. The one with more end product, whoever that is?

Can't be upset about the Brazilian links being rubbished. We all know he would have only seen 10 minutes or so pitch time for the first year he was here, to bed in, get fit enough and understand tactics.

If we are looking to spend big money in Brazil, it should be for Breno Bidon at Corinthians, the long term successor to Bruno.

Looks great on YT. Would be very surprised if we signed this profile of player.

Think ballers are a bit of an anomaly in our set up. Bruno’s in there because of his competitive sprint rather than his skill set imo.

Bidon does look like a throwback to the old skool Brazilian midfielders. Loads of nice touches and anticipation in place of mad athleticism. Nice to see

Lots of our players seemed to be struggling to understand the tactics atm so he’d have plenty of company.

Exactly, it's also well established that Andy and Eddie Howe have absolutely no interest in shopping abroad and will happily pass up bargains like a £35 million one in four striker from the Brazilian league.

I think the answer to this often happens throughout football transfers.

Belief/ego that the buying club are what the 'nose-dived' player needs. Belief that form temporary, and class is permanent. The transfer to them is exactly what will revitalise the players' value and performance level.

No doubt the selling club pitch this, also.

That's the way I see it, anyways

I suppose one thing is true.

If Anderson is being flogged for £100m, Gordon will be worth more.

He's actually scored goals and won a trophy. Played in the Champions League. Etc.

That's how Fair Market Value works, isn't it.

Are you doing the TBG gimmick? Could have sworn you were normally sensible.

"According to local insider outlet A Vascaínos and later confirmed and detailed by journalist Gilmar Ferreira, negotiations accelerated on Tuesday evening. Bournemouth agreed to key demands from Vasco and adjusted the structure of the deal. As a result, one of the main obstacles disappeared and talks moved quickly into their final phase.

Crucially, this all came hours after multiple Brazilian reports had Newcastle United knocking Bournemouth out of the way. Now that looks to have potentially been a plan to nudge the Cherries forward."

I really don't believe that football clubs make transfer decisions based on tweets and Chronicle articles.

I hope not anyway
