NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

I’m hugely skeptical about all Brazilian youngsters.

99% of them need to stay over there till early 20s at least so they can develop more. The money spent on Brazilians in past 6 seasons just been daft, all to hope they stumble into a Vini Jr.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are open to offers for Anthony Gordon, as his form has nosedived.

Newcastle would want a big fee and the feeling is they could get someone with more end product instead.

So

1. Why would anyone buy Gordon when his form has 'nosedived'?

2. Why wouldn't any club after him just go after whoever we are supposedly looking at to replace him. The one with more end product, whoever that is?

You could apply that logic to nearly any transfer.

It's his name. He's got the same last name as a former outfield player of ours. That's it. If he was Mark Gervais or Mark Wheatley or Mark Harper or even Mark Anythingbaroneofourformeroutfieldplayers I wouldn't dislike him so much. Well, unless it was double barreled, then he can fuck right off. I can't help it, it's just an irrational pet hate of mine.

Left back concerns me. We run Hall into the ground and the way he plays I feel increases possibility of injuries. Plus his recent record he has picked up knocks.

We lose hall we currently have no one other than Murphy. Ilgot a horrible feeling he will break down as soon as Burn returns and we're back to Burn at left back.

I wouldn’t be against doing nothing this Jan tbh. Maybe bring Targett back. Only if we do very good business in summer.

We'll only do very good business in summer if we qualify for the CL in my opinion. We can do good business as long as we get into Europe. Not qualifying and it's going to be another summer of our best players being linked away and us scrabbling to find replacements.

I mean, our best player left when we did make the CL. Think it depends a lot more on individual players than anything else. Obviously Europe makes us more attractive but most other potential destinations will have Europe too.

Yeah I think qualifying for the CL is more of a "can't hurt" when it comes to keeping players, but Isak proved it doesn't trump having your wages doubled. I don't necessarily think anyone else would go about it like him (still think there was an evil agent contributing to that fiasco), but we'll probably lose someone important no matter what this summer.

Imo, where CL helps moreso is in attracting a certain calibre of incoming player. It still doesn't get us our first choices but you wonder how far down our shortlists we'd have had to go without it...
