Sibierski
I will be a tad frustrated if we don't make a signing, especially at full back. We can't be falling back on "Players are coming back, squad is looking fine", because an injury to Hall unbalances the side straight away. 2 injuries then suddenly players are needing to play more. February is a brutal month, and to not provide at least one extra body for that will be very dumb IMO. Beating PSG will be huge because the run takes two tough games out, otherwise you are looking at this from this weekend (twice a week games): Villa (H), PSG (A), Liverpool (A), Man City (A), Brentford (H), Spurs (A), Villa (A), UCL (A), Man City (A), UCL (H), Everton (H), Man Utd (H). Then we get a rest for a week if we don't go through in FA Cup, otherwise it's FA Cup, followed by UCL (H), Chelsea (A), UCL (A), Sunderland (H). So many mentally tough games, where everyone will need to be on it to be competitive. No gimmes at all, because of how Brentford been this season (and their physicality) and Everton who did a job on us last season.

Menace
It's boring now. Moans about PSR, still spends £100M+ on 2 EPL players who have not improved us.

LFEE
20 minutes ago, Menace said: It's boring now. Moans about PSR, still spends £100M+ on 2 EPL players who have not improved us. They were never bought to improve the team. They were bought to improve the squad. The results of that will only be known at the end of the season. Having Wissa and Ramsey in the squad significantly improves it? Unless we’re comparing it against something mythical?

Not going after you but it blows my mind that this is a legitimate response to what he's saying. What more evidence do you need that PSR has our balls in a vice? Dokko
£75m to spend this window, and £200m in 2026. Not sure psr is to blame for us not making moves. It's a nice cover though, keeps the heat off the recruitment team.
Mazzy
1 hour ago, Menace said: It's boring now. Moans about PSR, still spends £100M+ on 2 EPL players who have not improved us. Perhaps it's worth thinking that's the reason why we aren't spending this January rather than it being an excuse for why we should be spending. We overspent a combined maybe £30M/£40M on Wissa/Elanga and Ramsey. Hence we have nothing left to give. Edited January 23 by Mazzy

We do, but you can assemble the squad for less. Like we may not be able to do any deals in January, because we're eyeing up £35m+ squad players still Osula at a push if you can say he's contributing to the squad is our cheapest at £15m. Otherwise going all the way back to our first window and Burn/Trips at £12m (Targett not here). It's fair to say we don't help ourselves.
Dokko
36 minutes ago, Dr Venkman said: Looooooads of our fans don’t understand squads. Legacy of under investment. Don't think anyone would moan about spending £100m on 5-6 players who are gambles to pad the squad out. It's the hyper focus on specific players who've then added nothing in return, when they are premium price. We can't afford to spend £55m on a player and not play him. We can afford to do that on £15m players (easier to sell on as the loss won't be as significant), and what we should have done this summer. A £15-20m punt on a young ish FB this window is just what we need. Give some cover for tino and hall. Hall breaks down again and it's season over as the knock on effect on squad covering and tactical setup will be too much to cope with. Osula was a £15m punt. Hasn't really worked out and talk of doubling our money. More of that please.
TaylorJ_01
would like to see a couple moves like that Alex Toth for Bournemouth. Relatively well rated, young, hungry ~£10m signings in areas we need them
Dokko
The squad building vs improving xi is wrong. We built the squad at xi prices. We can't afford to do that. That's where psr kicks in. But he doesn't want to admit that, probably to not throw players under the bus, but it would admit the club have got it wrong.
Yorkie
They don't deal in punts and low cost gambles because our ambitions are greater than just consolidating our position in the Premier League and flipping first-teamers for profit. We deal in high cost 'sure things' because PSR means we can't afford to make a mistake. If they don't work out, c'est la vie, it happens. But the logic is totally obvious and I genuinely don't see how you can be overly critical of it. All our signings may yet be successful. I'm quite happy to conclude that Jacob Ramsey is a better option than Sean Longstaff already.

It's something we've got to get right, not ignore. It's very short sighted to think you can rule this out as we're above ir. We're not. It'll pay for premium later down the years. I think you've expanded on something I said which isn't really at the heart of the issue. Yes we should trade outwards, agreed; what I'm saying is: it isn't our whole modus operandi that we buy to sell, a la Brentford, Brighton, which is whose business we're supposed to be jealous of.
