NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

I haven't watched anything from Luke Edwards or similar but I think we're adding quite a lot of drama and importance to something which is basically a very normal action for many football clubs (not signing people in January).

It’s not normal to not sign a single player in three successive January windows.  I’m guessing we are the only PL club to do that.

Possibly, not sure how important previous Januaries are to this point though.

I think unfortunately for the club the presumption was that the summer window despite its challenges would be enough and gambled on the lack of wiggle room to "save them" come the winter window. Eddie effectively said that when asked again about lack of Jan signings that the business we did was to take us through to the following summer.

Issue is it hasn't gone well the forward line has stuttered and the back line has had medium/longer term injury issues meaning we have needed that boost/help Edwards and probably a lot of fans feel we need but unable to do so.

Do we blame them for keeping their promise of spending every penny they could? well I guess if it leaves you with no options and wiggle room I guess it isn't a good thing or at the very least leaves you with the down side of no where to turn (loans are expensive and Eddie dont like them so not like that is a viable option).

But we did just sign 5 or 6 players in the summer just gone so it's not that surprising we have decided that's enough for now.

Isn’t that the opposite to what Eddie claimed?

Depends, I took Howes comments to mean we didn’t spend because we didn’t find the right value, not because we couldn’t afford to.

Listened to the end of it, I hope I’m wrong but he talked a load of shite. Extraordinary amount of work put in… but you didn’t sign anyone? New stadium, training ground probably not asked?  Love a proper interviewer given a chance. We need more work done less shit talk

I listened to the full thing he got good questions tbf, he batted most away. New stadium 62-68k but doesn’t want to be in a farmers field.

he said Howe has no targets set but Eddie understands where we want to be.

Ok ok , think me like most are running out of patience and probably scared a bit from the mike Ashley era 🤣

We are stuck in the middle I feel , we have definitely progressed … 2 champions leagues and a cup . It’s the future I’m worried about and all the up heavel in the background, chopping and changing . The next step is the toughest and you have to be unbelievable savvy in the transfer market which we were not this summer .

I hate this quote mind. It’s obviously bollocks as well. No whispers of any approaches for any players bar the final day. Something would have come out from agents and selling clubs. Just obvious lies to me.

Howe seems like the honest one here. We didn’t want to buy someone and effect what we can do in the summer because of PSR reasons. They’ve gambled and fair enough but call it what it is. Gaslighting fans in corporate speech seems stupid.

Hopkinson and Wilson seem like busy fools, doing all that work with no outcome.

Isn’t that just what a CEO in any business is?

What I hope he meant albeit hasnt landed well for a window we had no signings and risks in not making any signings in is that the ground work on deals any change to strategy/direction they now want to go in has been finalised.

Possibly although unlikely that some pre-summer deals have been sorted so we can get some lads in early. Being ready to act if the right deal came around similar to the names Craig no Hope mentioned and Eddie alluded to the ones for the future that didnt happen.

Kevin Danois, Kees Smit (seemed a quick non starter once more than 1 club showed interest and fee became 45/50m)  and  Luciano Valente were all mentioned early on (possibly had willock went) and  Dayann Methalie LCB/LB  before he got that knee injury.

Striker is the biggest issue for me. Especially as it’s extremely unlikely Howe will give up on either so soon. We’re stuck with them for next season at least. They’re making our wingers look worse than they are imo.

Then the midfield offering zero protection for the back line and nothing going forward without Bruno. Nothing new I know. The signing of a tidy but ineffective player like Ramsey worries me. Sandro will have to be sacrificed as no one except Bruno will fetch a decent fee and nobody wants to see that.

Starting keeper and versatile right back are essential too.

I must say this guy's giving me typical salesman aura rather than CEO. I hope I'm wrong of course.

Probably checking if Eddie is still chasing him for a new defender

I think we missed a big opportunity to sign the brasilian Rayan.

Have a feeling he would have suited us well and will become a fine player.
