They were clearly targeting him with kick outs from the keeper in the first half yesterday. Assume they thought Neto would be able to get the better of him aerially and physically.

Been awesome this season, very consistent and just unassuming in getting the job done. A selfish me would want him to stay away from the national team and rather have a good break and come back raring as he is not the most robust in our squad.

 

But his performances surely must be getting noticed by Tuchel. I wonder if being unassuming and understated is counting against him. I dont hear pundits mentioning him a lot when it comes the LB position at national level yet his performances certainly merit being mentioned.

He is by far the best English LB so he will be nailed on to start.

 

I agree would love him to have a rest over summer and not get called up.

 

I think due to the fixture build up and the fact that internationals are not for 3 months there hasn't been much discussion about england in the media.

Love his interceptions, the sudden burst out from behind who hes marking to nip in front and take the ball. Needs impeccable timing as its so easy to get spun when attempting it, got to read the incoming ball often before its played to ready himself  and the player by him by at the same time.

For me, his biggest attribute is he's very football smart. Reads the game (both attack and defence) extremely impressively.  Like he's playing himself from up in the stands

Add in the ability to execute his plans perfectly...he's my favourite player, and one I'd least like to lose.

Wish we had the luxury of being able to give him a chance in midfield. Refuse to believe he wouldn't be on a different planet to Willock, Joelinton or Ramsey on the left hand side of the three, and he might actually give us some guile there.
