Newcastle United 1-0 Manchester City (27/09/23)

Recommended Posts

Well that was boring.

Honestly don't think we've done to badly, they've only had the one real chance, but even that you'd expect to be saved, they've just had a lot of sideways possession, and we've defended well. Attacking threat, thats another thing.

It does feel like both teams are conserving energy somewhat.

Not dissimilar to the league game, City have bossed the match and while our shape has been good, we've been poor on the ball. The key difference is we've had the best chance of the game.

Livramento and Joelinton have been the picks so far. Tonali has struggled, but bringing him off won't do any good, he needs minutes and confidence. Hall and Miley have had mixed games.

Sorry but all the whinging about how boring/shit, that's the clearest chance of the game and if this is how we have to play.... then so be it.  They haven't had a clear chance.

Commentators can fuck off n'al.

It's Man City making the game boring, mostly.

Just holding on to the ball forever, as they can do against almost any side while very rarely attempting a more risky but incisive pass. Then when we get it, there have been lots of tactical fouls as always.

We have been wasteful with the ball after the first 10 minutes but this is what they did to us at the Etihad, just bored us to death til we were demoralised. Not a fan

It's a weird one with tonali. It's almost like he's reacting a second too late to what's happening on the pitch then over reaching to rectify it and making his touch look terrible

He also seems to be trying to press and then leaving massive gaps in the midfield as he does so. As bad a 45 mins as you can get like

That's Tonali completely written off by the forum then .

He will need a joelinton like comeback to change the minds of the nutters.

In fairness, I think Tonali has the potential to be brilliant but my god he's been appalling. Like really, really bad.

Miley, Hall and Livramento have all shown for the ball much more.

Tonali going to be the next one people crucify who will somehow shockingly surprise us that he’s actually good in a few months time. Honestly it’s rinse and repeat with new players and our fans sometimes. They can’t all settle like Bruno and Botman lads.

Man City are nowhere near as good as we are making them look. We've got three or four players who look scared shitless of the ball and it's affecting the others who started off well.

Howe needs to put a rocket up their arse and tell them to grow a pair and get at them.

This isn't about rockets or getting at anyone, unless you want us to get battered.

We have sat in a mid block and they really haven't done much to open us up at all.

The issue is what we are doing with the ball. Their press is very good and this lineup is struggling to play around it due to some poor touches and a lack of composure.

Needs to get them to settle down in possession, and maybe look to play it more direct down the channels a bit more.

The amount of times he gives possession away, punts it for a throw or simply gives a shite pass.

so frustrating to watch at times.

He'd be an excellent keeper 5-10 years ago, the game has moved on.
