Chelsea 1-1 Newcastle United (19/12/23) Chelsea win 4-2 on penalties

Tripps really does need some time off. Yes, majority of them are knackered and have played loads, but it seems deep for Tripps at the moment, he is absolute country miles away from where he usually is, looks completely broken. He needs taking out the firing line.

This phase of the season is punishing. Other teams able to bring on class subs who win the games while our battle scarred warriors having to slug through this fatigued, carrying knocks and can't get a break.

We haven't lost on heart or talent. Circumstances are overwhelming for first XI to sustain, despite having some success still.

Really, really poor from Howe (said it when we were winning also).

So disappointing.

Going into a game where you're knackered, they're not, the aim has to be to bring them down to your energy level - not increase the disparity by chasing shadows with eleven barely fit players. Absolute mad tactics.

Realisation that we are miles away from where we need to be when we're still playing the likes of Richie, im sure hes a lovely bloke but he was done 3 years ago.

Trippier needs dropping for a bit, been a liability lately.

Almost Pardewed the shit out of them but wasn't to be. We didn't deserve to win but still pretty gutting.

It's getting a bit annoying that teams only have to press us with moderate intensity and we can't play at all.

Feels as harsh as against PSG this. It feels almost worse that Chelsea are allowed to go through. Cheating bastards with their red card tackles and diving. Bringing on hundreds of millions in subs whereas we can bring on Matt Ritchie.

Players make mistakes and Trippier has been amazing for us.
