Toon simply gets the best out of the players.

Thiaw is having the best season of his career so far.

I can only hope that he finally gets a starting spot as a center-back for the national team.

Who's Rüdiger when you have a Thiaw?!

Re Thiaw. Either Curva Sud or Milanista said about him that he went up or down performance wise with the manager. Seems Eddie is a manager Malick is happy with.

Definitely get the impression no manager really stuck with him and gave him that kind of assurance and confidence.

Think he's benefitted massively from the sort of environment Howe has cultivated at the club, and the belief he has shown in Thiaw.

helps his partners are Schar, Burn and Botman as well. Excellent in their own ways and know the system.

Insane. I'm very happy to be proved wrong. Not put a foot wrong all season and seems he's got a bullet header in him which will be useful over the course of a season.

Yep. Not really had a CB that attacks headers from set pieces like him since Lascelles.

He’d had some near misses already before the goals. One off the bar, one saved and one off the line, I think?

It was me... now he feels he has the trust of the team and the coach that he never had at Milan (not through Malick's fault). With you even a jerk like Leao would probably become like Ronaldo.

My thoughts exactly. I don’t have problem admitting I was wrong.

He has great chance with Germany. Rüdiger is almost done and the main competition is Schlotterbeck and Tah. Tah’s turning 30 in few months. Anton and Koch also 30 next year and Thiaw should be ahead of them if keeps on developing like this.

Thought the everton goal was more Tino's fault than Malik, when a ball comes over the top, with one strikers and 2 defenders, there should always be a man in front and one cleaning Up behind and tino just wasn't quite on It.

Great touch a composure by dewdbury tho

A lot with the best defenders happen before the game is kicked off. Reputation.

Thiaw is quickly getting that rep where it is expected that he will come out on top of the striker, the second tier and below strikers will be beat in the tunnel.

Tino is getting there with his tackling, no winger is rocking up to SJP thinking he's going to get the better of him.

Hall is slightly different as he's just a pure footballer, he's going to get targeted as someone who dictates our play and his defending will get overlooked a little. All good for us.

His worst half for us first half tonight.

Thankfully seemed to regain his composure for the second half but not in a hurry to see first half Malick again anytime soon.

Said in the Woltemade thread, both him and Thiaw seemed to have shrunk in the first half tonight. Came on better in the second though.

Aye, think he got away with that potential sending off. Probably 60-40 (at least) in favour of a red IMO.

Bit rattled and raggerty for a while after that, but much better second half.
